About the Author

Ritter Ames is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Organized Mysteries series and the Bodies of Art Mysteries series. When she's not writing or brainstorming new mysteries Ritter is usually trying to get her favorite yellow lab to stay out of the pond, or keep her grouchy black cat from trying to give the dog away on Freecycle. Ritter would love to live on a boat and write from far flung locations around the globe, but the dog would constantly have to be fished from the water, and her husband and cat would just complain endlessly about the dog's smell, so staying on land seems to be the only good option to keep her sanity and not get sidetracked from writing.

Organized for Murder is the first book in the Organized Mystery Book series by Ritter Ames. This is the first book I have read that was written by this author. Living in a small house, we always have issues with clutter. Kate McKenzie, an organizer extraordinaire, provides helpful tips to declutter one’s life and space at the beginning of every chapter.
Organized for Murder is set in the small town of Hazelton, Vermont. Kate McKensie is a young mother of 6-year-old twin girls and is married to an ex-football player turned sportscaster for the local T V station. Due to an injury, he gave up professional hockey and they moved to his hometown and close to his parents who care deeply for Kate and her daughters. Kate McKenzie 's business venture, Stacked in Your Favor, provides organization and uncluttering services for both residential and business owners. A new rich client, hired Kate to inventory in the items in the client's mansion. Unfortunately, her client is found murdered and Kate becomes one of the suspects. Once cleared by the local authorities, she is surprised when the family's attorney hires her to complete the inventory listings on behalf of the estate. Several items from the house mysteriously appear in Kate's possession, she decides she needs to find the identity of the murderer, or be framed for murder and theft. Kate’s friend, Meg, helps with the inventory of the deceased belongings and supports Kate, who became involved in solving the murder mystery, along with items disappearing and reappearing. The story has a well written plot with many twists and turns as well as numerous potential suspects which kept me guessing.
This is the first book I’ve read penned by Ritter Ames. I was introduced to Ritter’s through Gemma Halliday Newsletter and her involvement in publishing Ritter’s works. Since I have enjoyed other cozy mysteries published by Gemma, I decided to try Ritter’s books. Organized for Murder fits into the genres of mystery and/or suspense, with humor gently integrated. I liked having the combination of a well written mystery and organizational tools/tips. Organized for Murder is the first book in part of a wonderful series. I was thrilled to see that Ms. Ames included an appendix in the book where all of the tips are organized. When a cozy mystery includes a recipe, I like to try it/them. This book includes a delicious crock pot oatmeal recipe which is perfect on a cold winter morning. I highly recommend to those that love mysteries. This story was a quick and enjoyable read and was the first in a new series. I look forward to reading more from Ritter Ames. A quick and enjoyable read that you don’t want to miss.

I have to admit, I read this book over the course of 3 very busy months. Because I was stopping and starting so often, I found that the closer I got to the end, the happier I became. I attribute these feelings to having made myself finish this book, despite my crazy life over the past few months.

The book itself was written well and I genuinely really liked the main character and her next door neighbor. I could envision the various settings as they were described, and the character's local book store is one I could see myself at on the weekends! I did feel the ending or wrap up was rushed a bit, while other areas of the book dragged on longer than I liked. Over all, a good book with lots of organizational info thrown in.

    10+ stars!!!!
Wow, great book, this is a new author for me. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Kate McKenzie is a super mom, with twins and a husband that is a radio personality, also runs her own business as an organization expert. Can get her spread thin at times, but she manages quite well.
This one job got her and her new best friend- neighbor Megan (Meg) and business helper into quite a jamb.
This very rich family has more problems than you could imagine, well maybe not when it comes to reading a will, and inventoriing a mansion with jealous selfish self-centered siblings.
Things got real bad when there became a lot of suspects, thiefs, breaking and entering, framing other people for the crimes they didn't do.
And a homicide detective from out of town to solve the mess that's got the family and everyone involved with the Mansion scared.
Kate and Meg put their heads together to try and solve the problem, but gives the detective a pain trying to keep them out of it until a murder points to Kate and then they really start getting in the way and in danger.
You will enjoy this book and you won't be able to put it down.

This book was a great murder mystery. It isn't dark and it has a vibe to it that hooked me from the beginning.

This review won't be to long because I don't want to give anything away. Kate is a wife and mother of twin girls. He husbands hockey career is over so she starts are company STACKED IN YOUR FAVOR (which I would totally hire. Her business is to help organize peoples homes. She gets a great job from the sounds of it for Amelia who is really really rich. But upon seeing the mansion and the contents she wants out.

Unfortunately she gets out but only because Amelia is murdered. She is on the suspect list as she was in the house on the day of the event. Kate then decides to use her organization skills to find the real murder.

What really worked for me with this was pace, and the fact that it kept me guessing. I suspected so many people throughout the book so that make getting to the end even better. The organization facts are awesome. I will be using some of them in my home so that was a surprising bonus.

The only thing that isn't bad but made things a little confusing is the amount of characters. It got a little hard to keep it all straight, but this book was great so it was not that big of an issue.

    Highly recommend.

This book had strong, well-developed characters that were easy to identify with and love or hate. The organizational tips were good but interrupted the flow of the story; they all should have been at the end. Detailing all of Kate's talk was totally unnecessary; again, this could/should have been at the end. The plot was good but I quickly skipped all of the superfluous info to stay on track. I think I will pass on more by Ritter Ames.

2.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't find much sympathy for the main character
Reviewed in Japan on May 20, 2014
I had a hard time relating to a main character with OCD. Even though she was trying to use her 'strengths' as a business, I found the writing tedious. I skipped over those sections of text that went into lots of details of the character's anxiety. I found her 'best friend' much more entertaining and would prefer a story with her as the main character.

Reviewed in Canada on April 26, 2014
This book is an easy read. It's easy to pick up and put down, and I suppose an OK time waster. I didn't find anything particularly interesting or clever about it. The dialogue was rather wooden and predictable with no characters that were very memorable.
