About the author

Kelly Risser knew at a young age what she wanted to be when she grew up. Unfortunately, Fairytale Princess was not a lucrative career. Leaving the castle and wand behind, she entered the world of creative business writing where she worked in advertising, marketing, and training at various companies.
She's often found lamenting, "It's hard to write when there's so many good books to read!" So, when she's not immersed in the middle of someone else's fantasy world, she's busy creating one of her own. This world is introduced in her first novel, Never Forgotten.
Kelly lives in Wisconsin with her husband and two children. They share their home with Clyde the Whoodle and a school of fish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Creative and well-written.
Verified PurchaseHaving read the entire series now I quite enjoyed it. I'm a picky reader and weary of the usual cliches in genre fiction. I really like Kelly's gentle, slice-of-life approach to her selkies. The themes of familial love, friendship, and romantic love are the stars of this series more than the magic at first. But even once the magic takes center stage in the second book it is still less important than trust is in its various forms. There is sex in the story, but it's understated, and in the context of real love, and never graphic. There is nothing lurid in these books and I found that refreshing as I grew to care deeply for the characters. Too many writers rely on terrifying violence or gratuitous sex to invest readers because their characters are too two-dimensional to be interesting without it. I loved that she was true to the selkie legends and folklore as well. It makes sense that the selkies isolate themselves from the human world if only a year among humans causes selkies to become human as well. There is a lot more I could say, but not without spoiling Meara and Evan's journey. If you enjoy beautiful atmosphere and a story that slowly unfolds as the characters develop give the Never Forgotten series a try. You won't be sorry.

4.0 out of 5 stars The dilemma who to love first
Verified PurchaseGood light reading, the story flows well and gradually leads the reader into a closer and closer involvement in the details of the relationships, attitudes, dilemmas and rules of the enhanced world involved. It flows easily to each new level of the story.
