New Orleans Rush Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 598 ratings

“A fun mixture of magic, sensuality, and iconic pin-up girl style. The romance in New Orleans Rush will leave you smiling and filled with optimism.” (Helen Hoang, author of The Kiss Quotient)

Falling for your surly boss is a rotten idea.
Letting him saw you in half is even worse....

Beatrice Baker may be a struggling artist, but she believes all hardships have silver linings...until she follows her boyfriend to New Orleans and finds him with another woman. Instead of turning those lemons into lemonade, she drinks lemon drop martinis and keys the wrong man's car.

Now she works for Huxley Marlow of the Marvelous Marlow Boys, getting shoved in boxes as an on-stage magician's assistant. A cool job for some, but Bea's been coerced into the role to cover her debt. She also maybe fantasizes about her boss' adept hands and what else they can do.

She absolutely will not fall for him, or kiss him senseless. Until she does. The scarred, enigmatic Huxley has unwittingly become her muse, unlocking her artistic dry spell, but his vague nightly activities are highly suspect. The last time Beatrice trusted a man, her bank account got drained and she almost got arrested. Surely this can't end that badly...right?

Magical Romance That Will Have You Swooning!
Bea followers her boyfriend to New Orleans, and no even three days later he dumps her for another woman. Bea is always the cup half full kind of girl, but she finds herself ending up at a bar, drinking lemon drops, and keying what she thought was her Ex’s car. Instead, it’s Huxley’s. The mysterious man she met in the bar wearing a cape. Now to work off her debt, she is working as Huxley's assistant for the Marvelous Marlow Boys. Soon Huxley becomes her muse and she finds herself painting again, ending her artistic dry spell, but his vague nightly activities have her worried. The last man she trusted drained her bank, hopefully it won’t end that way again. ⁣⁣You guys... MY HEART! Ugh, I loved Huxley so much. I love nothing more than a dark, brooding, damaged man who is so sweet! Bea was such a perfect, eccentric character to bring out the fun side of Huxley. Also, any book that makes Twilight references has me sold!! This was a slow burn but the steamy scenes were well worth the wait!

Beatrice has had it rough. And in this one day of a good run of bad luck, she manages to make things worse, and then better. Perpetual sunshine and hopeful, in a drunken and cold medicine induced haze, she keys a car. Only it’s not the car she meant to key, and she finds herself face to face for the second time with Huxley Marlow. Only she doesn’t realize it fully until the third time. Huxley is complex himself, the serious and responsible brother in a family full of magicians. He loves the acts and his family’s legacy, but he’s also been treading water for some time. Both Beatrice and Huxley have secrets and ghosts, but their attraction is instant and magnetic. And they are just what each other needs.
I hadn’t read a Kelly Siskind story in awhile, and I almost forgot how much I enjoy her books. Funny and clever, while also being heartfelt and sweet. Not to mention sexy. I really loved both Beatrice and Huxley, as well as the side characters that weave up this tale. This book is a lot of fun, and you won’t want to put it down.

I sincerely hope Kelly Siskind is giving us all of the Marvelous Marlow Boys stories because I'm twitching for more magic.

New Orleans Rush isn't just magical...Its also zany, quirky, and full of nerdy weirdo fun. From tshirts to will covet to detecting vampires, New Orleans Rush is an eyebrow raising, smirk inducing fun bunch of awkwardness. Bea is beyond quirky and wildly entertaining. She's a sexy vixen set about wooing the Scowly Smurf in her life. (It sounds crazy but believe me - it's an adventure worth embarking on!)

New Orleans Rush proves it's not about the destination (though that too is perfect!), it's all about the journey!

Join Bea, Huxley, and the remaining Xs of the Marlow Brothers on this Marvelous(ly) magical adventure!

I am not sure how I snagged this but dang do I LOVE it! The writing flows very nicely. The story is a little different romance. The characters just sucked me deeper into the story with their lovable-ness.

I love how these two met. Very different. On a whim she makes a huge drunken mistake but it could be the One that also saves her. This girl is do fun and quirky. I love the free spirit of her. What she does and says just makes me want to hug her. Huxley is very interesting to me. His job (while a struggle for him) is awesome! His devotion to family is unquestionable. Yeah he has problems but his attitude just kept surprising me over and over.

The Marlow brothers are so great. I mean Huxley is broody. He has the huge responsibility and does magic!! Yes I said Magic! I could easily imagine the awe that Bea has while watching them perform. Then there is Axle and Fox. I love their names and attitudes and quirks that describes each perfectly.

Overall this story is one that had me hoping and wishing for these characters. I absolutely loved it and it will be going on my re-listen page for when I want a feel good story. I did listen to this on audio. The narrator did a good job. I would love to see Fox and Axel’s story.

This is kind of a "my life is s*** to happy" story. Would I recommend this book? Sure. Would it be at the top of my recommendation list? Nah.. I liked the family aspect between the brothers of the book. Family is super important and is kind of the base line for this book. The story itself is a little out there for me (I won't spoil anything though) and even though the characters are in their late 20's/early-mid 30's.. They read like they were 15 sometimes which threw me.

An entertaining read. A love relationship struggling to overcome all of the doubts and insecurities the path leads you on. I enjoyed the different twist in the story line using magic and illusions.

Beatrice and Huxley's romance is intriguing. The set up, the cast of characters and the pace all make New Orleans Rush a thoroughly satisfying read. As a romance writer, I enjoyed the sway of the plot and couldn't wait to find out if Big Eddie was Bee's father or not. Taking their aversion to bees and the fact that Bee's mother was with Big Eddie before she met Bee's father...It didn't take away from the story at all. Grumpy/Surly Huxley is unforgettable and hilarious. Beatrice is no less interesting. The safety box ending was unexpected yet expected. Great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVED this book!
Reviewed in Australia on August 2, 2019
This book took me by surprise, I loved it much more than I expected I would. From the very beginning this book completely sucked me in, it was so unique to many other romances I've read lately. I really enjoyed the magic/illusionist aspect of this book and could not put it down.
This was such a sweet romance that had me swooning and laughing, Huxley was absolutely perfect and Bea was such a loveable character. Their hilarious meet cute and the family dynamic of the Marvelous Marlow Brothers was great, so much banter and so many laughs.
My only dislike of this book was the amount of times the author used the work "puckered"... I mean you could seriously turn that into a drinking game.
Despite that, this book has been one of the best I've read this year!
