Mom-Com: A Single Parent/Opposites Attract Romantic Comedy (Reality of Love Book 2) Kindle Edition
This single parent dating experiment is about to go viral…
Jameson
When my eight-year-old son starts asking question about love, I decide to use a magazine article on how to woo a woman to prove, once and for all, that romantic love doesn’t exist. Companionship, habit, mild fondness, sure, but not that thing called love. I have my hypothesis ready and I’m dead set on experimenting on my new neighbor, the single mom who does the weirdest things.
But my experiment goes awry in unexplainable ways...
Lily-Marie
When dating apps fail me spectacularly, I decide to go old school and use a 1950s magazine I dug up at a yard sale to help find Mr. Right.
Fifty Ways to Find a Husband.
Sounds legit.
Problem is, my new neighbor, Mr. Science Professor, keeps blocking my attempts. And keeps losing his shirt. How does a book nerd have so many muscles anyway? Thing is, my kids like his son and we start spending a lot of time together, which is distracting me from my ultimate goal: to find a husband to sweep me off my feet and be a good father to my kids.
Things get comical quick when my best friend records everything in her daily newspaper column. I can’t help but wonder if single moms like me can actually catch a husband. Or will this Mom-Com go viral as an epic train wreck?

- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2022So, this series is not the same as the "Auburn Hill" (or Hell - IYKYK) group of characters, but are full of wonderful characters all the same.
Ah, to have Lily-Marie's HEA!! It was absolutely adorable and perfect for the two of them. I loved that both she and Jameson were single parents and they found each other!
This author consistently writes creative and engaging stories that entertain. They are easy to read and enjoy, and provide characters that are steamy together!
I encourage you to read her numerous other series and books (in order please!). I look forward to my next read from this talented author.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2022This book overall was very fun to read. They each had some hang ups about love and it’s worth in their life.
They were strangers to friendly to more pretty quickly. It works out well for them in the end as they each helped each other see some things about themselves.
The twist about the grandmother was fun! The whole big date night he planned was so sweet!
My only complaint really is that he was Pershing her and trying to give her what she wanted and yet she kept pushing him away saying she needed to find love. Her introspection was a little annoying.
I loved the ending and the set up for Gaby’s book. Sucks that her relationship had to implode so badly 😢
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2021Well, talk nerdy to me, I loved this!!
Jameson is such an adorkable science professor. And man, is he is HOT! And Lily-Marie is the beautiful neighbor who ends up being his next science experiment victim. These two together made my heart so happy.
I enjoyed this from beginning to end. The Disney movies, the kids, and OMGoodness...the lists!
This book was full of so much charming goodness, I never wanted to put it down.
And can we talk about the dirty talking? Holy MF-ing deliciousness. Whoa. Not only is he hiding a sexy bod under those sweater vests, he’s also got a filthy mouth. *heart eyes*
This single mom + single dad romance was everything I’d hoped it would be...sweet, sexy, and fun!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2023I enjoyed this book but I didnt particularly find it funny. It was a clean sweet read but for me lacked humour as it was called a romcom.
Likeable characters but light on details and getting to know them.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2023I have never given a 5 star rating, because I've never found the perfect book...but this story comes pretty close. I loved the friendship the women had, it was so believable. I laughed out loud so many times, my dog had to check on me. The plot moved along AND I didn't find grammatical errors! I thought Prince Charming and Cinderella were perfect. Highly recommend this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2020I'm not usually into predictable storylines, but tried this book on a whim because it sounded amusing with the experiments. Plus, a hot and clueless nerd? I couldn't pass that combination up! It may be a predictable storyline, but the story is anything but predictable! Some parts (scissors, I have a new appreciation for you lol) had me laughing so hard my husband asked what in the world could be that funny in my book. I was totally into the viral article series in my mind and reading from that POV made it all the better to me. I absolutely loved this book and wholeheartedly recommend having a delightful evening escape into this story! I have discovered a new must read author for myself.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2019Mom-Com is a funny, smart and witty romance between Lily-Marie, mom of two and Jameson, a geeky professor, dad to Stein and Lily-Marie’s neighbor. They are both on a quest to find the perfect spouse with some old-fashioned rules to follow. There’s humorous and heartwarming dialogue with the kids, Jameson’’s geekdom and Lily-Marie’s knack for embarrassing herself. The book is so well written so I was disappointed by the epilogue when it turned into more about the next installment about Gabby, Lily-Maries friend, hence no 5 star review. It won’t stop me from reading more of MariKa Ray’s work because it is apparent she has real talent.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2022This was a cute story. The characters were okay and the storyline was cute. It has some really cute moments in it and it was a good read

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT
I loved this book and didn't want to put it down but also didn't want it to end. Plot was slightly different. Characters were strong, I love a book with good plot and lots of humour and this one fit the bill. Can't wait to read more by this author as she is now on my favourite CR list.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm hooked
I tried this book because it seemed interesting and fun and I wasn't disappointed! I loved the characters and the relationship they developed, the humor was ever present and generously topped with cuteness. Now I have to read everything from the same dealer... Writer!
