Me, You & the Music Audio CD – CD, April 30, 2013

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 103 ratings

Born and raised in Chula Vista, California, Sanchez has worked on honing her vocal versatility for almost her entire life. She started singing when she was two and lists Mariah Carey, Etta James, and Ray Charles among her musical influences. At age ten she performed Aretha Franklin's Respect on an episode of Showtime at the Apollo. A year later, she competed on the premiere season of America's Got Talent, reaching the wild-card round before getting cut. Over the next few years, Sanchez performed at venues both large and small (including a 2008 San Diego Chargers game) and released a number of covers (such as Etta James's I'd Rather Go Blind ) through an independent record label. After nailing her American Idol audition in 2011, Sanchez climbed to the final two and landed her deal with Interscope soon after the season finale. Diving into the recording of her debut in Summer 2012, Sanchez took a break from the studio to tear through a rousing, choir-backed rendition of Marvin Gaye's All I Need To Get By at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

I love the album. It is a mix of dancey, uptempo, urban, r&b and ballad songs. It is really hard to pick a favorite. I feel that each songs can be a radio hit, and better than songs we hear nowadays in the radio. It is so amazing. Jessica Sanchez' vocal really shines in each tract, even in the dancey uptempo song. I got my amazon order yesterday and been playing it non-stop since then. So much talent. First time I have bought from an American Idol alumna. I don't regret it one bit. This is a highly recommended album. Everybody should buy this. World should listen to this powerhouse vocal.

Followed Jessica on American Idol and thought she should have won. Have been waiting eagerly for her album. I like the first three songs, particularly the really nice cover of Tom Petty's "Don't Come Around". Otherwise, I'm not overwhelmed by the songs or the lyrics. It's not always about the artist. A lot depends on the songs and the arrangements. Too much of this album sounds like elevator music. Maybe next time.

Jessica doesn't disappoint her fans with her first album since coming in 2nd on American Idol. This young woman has got a great talent and her vocals are amazing. I'm not a fan of most of the new music out there, and yet Jessica can bring a different color to a song and pull you right in with her singing and story telling. For a first album, I say, "Great Job"!

Jessica Sanchez did a wonderful job with this album
.. so glad Interscope took their time on this one. Everyone is used to her singing ballads on American Idol. This album is very versatile, and every song is placed beautiful with her voice...When Randy said she can sing the phone book and back it is true.. Just like Jimmy said she doesn't want to be an opera singer.. But this album definitely has more than 2 hit singles. This deserves to be the best pop album. She deserves best new artist. It is a must get album...

Me, You & the Music is a testament of the versatility and promise this young artist has. Sanchez gave her audience a taste of her powerful vocals on American Idol. With her debut album, she showcases her undeniable and unique vocal techniques with the music of today. Her vocals on point, her music... current. So much promise to look forward to and in store with this kind of vocal technical ability. Great job!

Jessica did a incredible job with her first album. Big fan of hers. I can't tell you how beautiful her voice sounds. Can't get enough of her and her music. My favorite songs are Right To Fall, Tonight, Don't Come Around, Drive By, and Gentleman. Love the direction she took on this album with upbeat songs than just sticking with ballads which she has done on IDOL. Looking forward on her next album in the future.

Jessica excelled on "American Idol" with her renditions of ballads from some of the greatest recording artists. However, as usual, the producers of this album, (who always think they know better what the public wants), deviated from her strengths and put out an over-produced, electronic, synthesized collection of upbeat pop tunes that sound like every other current artist with less vocal prowess than Jessica is capable of.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Hammer-Album!
Reviewed in Germany on November 27, 2018
2012 wurde Jessica Sanchez Zweite bei "American Idol", ein Jahr später veröffentlichte sie ihr Album "Me, you + the music" mit insgesamt elf Songs.

    1. Right to fall 5/5

    3. Don't come around 5/5

    5. No one compares (ft. Prince Royce) 5/5

    6. In your hands 5/5

    8. Drive by 5/5

    9. You've got the love 5/5
"You've got the love" ist ein Dance-Song mit eher rap-artigen Strophen.

    10. Gentlemen 5/5

    11. No one compares (Spanglish Version) (ft. Prince Royce) 5/5

Great debut effort. I just wish that the label pushed it a little better. I think Jessica tries to play it too safe, though. However, the quality is there and if this is any indication to what she can do...OMG...she just needs better promotion and support from her record label.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jessica Sanchez

Amazing amazing album!!! This girl is very gifted, she moved away from the genre of music that she was mostly singing on American Idol, but she's still got two ballads on this very diverse album (to please some of the fans she gained there). This album showcases her vocal ability and how she can skip from one music genre to another and sing all to a very high standard. Jessica's been singing from the age of two and she's developed a very powerful voice (mega pipes), she's got a very beautiful tone to her voice and her vibrato is exquisite. Jessica is all about giving live vocals, unlike many of the auto-tuned artists of today. I highly recommend this album, and I am still playing it today one year on from it's official release date in the US (not available on iTunes in Europe yet, this album received no promo in Europe and very little in the US). I am looking forward to Jessica's next album that is coming out soon.

I think Jessica Sanchez is EXTREMELY talented BUT on this album she seems to be trying WAY to hard... Slow down and SING great groove songs with that beautiful voice of yours. Most of the songs on this album are too wired to dance to well (if you get my meaning). Try using Jennifer Lopez as an example...... I still love you sweetheart!
