Editorial Reviews

From the Author

I so enjoyed writing this series! I love all of the Parker women. From Donna who runs the general store that has been in their family for generations, to Evelyn and all her adjustments to her new life. And the secrets! So many secrets. I love writing the feel-good stories of so many generations and having women find romance later in life.

I also like to draw, so Heather Parker was fun. I did some of "her" illustrations and gave her accounts on Facebook and Instagram.

And Camille, the character my readers love to hate, pops up in this series, too. That Camille, always stirring up trouble.

This series was a fun one to plot. I actually plotted the basics of the Parker family one afternoon brainstorming with my youngest son. We paced the patio and threw around ideas. Came up with family secrets. Came up with romance subplots. My son doesn't know it yet, but he's going to do the same thing with my next series!

The town of Moonbeam is loosely based on a set of small towns on the Southwest Florida gulf coast. A cross between Venice, Punta Gorda, Sanibel, and Anna Maria Island. It's no surprise that you can often find me at one of those places!

I hope you enjoy reading this series as much as I enjoyed writing it! Happy reading!

About the Author

USA Today Bestselling author Kay Correll is the author of over thirty books in six series. The stories are set in small towns and revolve around the women and their families. But there is always a splash of sweet romance.

Kay freely admits she writes small towns she'd love to live in. She'd love to meet her friends at Magic Cafe or shop at Parker's General Store. Kay is not a fan of winters or snow, but she'd gladly stay at Sweet River Lodge in the charming town of Sweet River Falls, Colorado for a summer.

Kay loves long beach walks, drinks way too much coffee, and is adored by a cavalier puppy.

Kay Correll is a USA Today bestselling author of sweet, heartwarming stories that are a cross between women’s fiction and contemporary romance. She is known for her charming small towns, quirky townsfolk, and the enduring strong friendships between the women in her books.

Kay splits her time between the Southwest coast of Florida and the Midwest of the U.S. and can often be found out and about with her camera, taking a myriad of photographs, often incorporating them into her book covers. When not lost in her writing or photography, she can be found spending time with her ever-supportive husband, knitting, or playing with her puppies - a cavalier who is too cute for his own good and a naughty but adorable Australian shepherd. Their five boys are all grown now and while she misses the rowdy boy-noise chaos, she is thoroughly enjoying her empty nest years.

This is the start of another wonderful series by Kay Correll. I love her characters and their relationships with each other. I highly recommend this book and all of her books.

The Parker Women: Moonbeam Bay Book 1 is by Kay Correll. This book introduces us to the Parker women, although none have that last name. Their great-grandparents opened a general store in Moonbeam Bay and it was named after them, The Parkers. However, they only had girls and the name went out of the family but the store and their families were always known as the Parker family. The store was now run by Donna Foster and her daughter Olivia and her granddaughter Emily. In addition to a general store, the store also had a malt shop that was known for Grandmother Parker’s ice cream, especially vanilla.
The Cabot Hotel, once a beautiful hotel, has been purchased and is being refurbished. Barry Richmond has been hired to oversee the completion of the hotel. His friend Delbert Hamilton even found him a place to stay. It just so happens it is next door to Donna Foster’s home. Her granddaughter, Emily, knows all about the hotel as she works at the town’s history museum and has been fascinated with the hotel.
Olivia’s cousin Heather is back in town. They have been best friends since they were born, on the same day. Heather has been traveling and painting for years. Now she is back; but will she stay? Olivia has an idea that might just work at keeping her in town.

Caught myself rolling my eyes quite a bit. The author constantly uses the word “frowned” a lot. “ he frowned, she frowned”, everybody frowns in this book. Couldn’t wait to get through it.
