Could her day get any worse?
Late for work… coffee spilled on her blouse… son gets sick at school… and her boss is a jerk. Oh, yeah… when Sylvie’s son witnesses a murder through the window in her office, she finds out just how bad her day can get.

Mace Hanover’s focus is on building his security company and the missions they undertook. A relationship was not on his radar.
He just wanted to provide security for the beautiful Sylvie and her son, while the Lighthouse Keepers investigate the crime, but the two worked their way under his skin and the mission became personal.

Can a woman who is scared to love again and a man who is afraid of love, find happiness together?

Lighthouse Security Investigations
The security and investigation company is filled with handpicked men and women from the SEALs, Rangers, Special Forces, Deltas, and Air Force Special Ops. All trained in CIA Special Operations, the Keepers were the best of the best and ready to take on any mission.

Scenes in the book are similar to what you would find in an R-rated
movie. For 18+ readers only.

USA Today Bestselling Author, Award Winning, Amazon International Bestselling and All-Star author, Kobo, and Barnes & Noble Best Selling Author! I have always been an avid reader. In 2013 I started a blog to showcase wonderful writers and finally gave in to the characters in my head pleading for their story to be told. Thus, Emma's Home was created.

My first novel, Emma's Home became an Amazon Best Seller in 3 categories within the first month of publishing. Its success was followed by the rest of the Fairfield Series and then led into the Love's Series. Soon, other spin-off series came along and 8 of my books have made Amazon top 100 Bestselling books.

Gabe, from the Alvarez Security Series won Silver Medal and 5 Star Review by the 2016 Reader's Choice Awards.

Honor Love was an award winning novel from the 2016 Reader's Choice Awards.

Serial Love was an award finalist novel from the 2016 Reader's Choice Awards.

Coming Home was awarded the 5 Star Review by the 2017 Reader's Choice Awards.

Discover Love was awarded the 5 Star Review by the 2017 Reader's Choice Awards.

My books are filled with sweet and steamy romance, mystery, suspense, real-life characters and situations. My heroes are alphas, take-charge men who love the strong, independent women they fall in love with.

I worked as a counselor in a high school and was involved in education for 30 years. I have now retired and look forward to more time with family and writing!

I have been married to a wonderfully patient man for 40 years and have 2 adult, very supportive daughters.

When writing, my dog or one of my cats will usually be found in my lap!

I love to hear from readers, so please email me!

I loved this book! What a great start to a series!

Mace has been alone but part of a team since he was born.

First it was his biological family and then his Military family and then the family he turned into a business out of that found military family.

He was content for years with that situation, until he LITERALLY ran into Sylvie. That sparked something in him and then they met again by chance because of something her son witnessed

That connection blossomed into love beautifully between them as a couple as well as Mace and David as father and son 🥰🥰🥰

This book isn’t terribly long (24 chapters) but it’s packed with a lot of action and drama and love!

I will definitely be reading more in the series at some point!

Mace Hanover, former Special Forces and CIA Special Ops, runs a security and investigations company that hires the best of the best from all branches of the military and they have worked CIA special ops. This group is amazing and his company scans local police reports among other things for trouble.

Sylvie Gardner is almost late for work on day when she literally runs into Mace and his coffee cup. She gets coffee all over her and it ruins her shirt. Mace, ever the gentleman, gives her an extra shirt but doesn't give her his name and she sort of wishes he had as does he.

Fate intervenes when Mace comes across a police report about a young boy who witnesses something no 8 year old boy should see. Mace reads the report and marks it but doesn't pursue it until a couple of more reports from this first report come in. He does a bit of research and realizes he knows the single mom who filed the reports. Her ex was in Army training with Mace and didn't make it into Special Ops training. When Sylvie opens her door and sees the man who lent her the shirt at her door, well she just can't believe it.

Mace offers her his protection and that of his Keepers. He wants to keep she and her son safe. She is reluctant at first but as David, her son, appears to be in danger then she readily agrees.

Mace is strong and grew up knowing he wanted to be a protector like the lighthouse keepers that his grandpa told him stories about. He is tall, full of muscles, well trained and very protective. Sylvie and David bring all of that out in him but also he and David share a similar childhood and that draws Mace to his case. This just may be the most important case of his life.

I loved this story and was very taken with David, he is a bright and inquisitive young boy who has no male role models in his life. His mom Sylvie works a job that she hates and her boss doesn't seem to like single moms especially when David has to come to her office when he gets sick at school. She is a loving mother and she was dealt a bad hand with her ex. She is pretty and hardworking and she loves her soon tremendously.

Ms. Jordan writes wonderful stories full of strong sexy male heroes and strong women who need a bit of help but they are not weak women. I look forward to reading more about The Keepers and Horace and Marge, the caretakers of The Keepers. This is a wonderful new series and while I read Drew first I plan to read the rest in order.

Mace started Lighthouse Securities. He has regrets in his past but they have shaped him into the protector he is. Sylvie and her son are inadvertently caught up in something sinister. Mace and his team step in to help. But they also feel the strong attraction and connection. This is an action packed heat infused stand-alone story by Maryann Jordan outlining their healing and their growth as well as their fight with the dangerous elements. I loved it.

Mace is an exciting novel. I typically skip book ones in a series because there is too much setup for me. Having read other books in the Lighthouse Security Investigations and loved them all, I circled back to this one. Soooo glad I did, it is excellent. Edge of your seat suspense, hot romance - you can’t go wrong with a Maryann Jordan book.

“Mace” is the beginning of a spin-off series from several of Maryann Jordan’s collections. This time the location is the shores of Maine instead of the Commonwealth of Virginia. I love how this book begins with the flashback of Mace’s childhood with his grandfather: boating lessons; swimming lessons; pirate stories and just the wonderful relationship they had. You are given a glance into what Mace’s true young years were like which led him to join the military, strive to do well and develop Lighthouse Security Investigations (LSI).
Like Alvarez and Saints businesses this is a well-funded operation with only the best equipment, technology and staff. We are immediately endeared to an older couple (meaning not in their 20-30’s!) Marge and Horace who work as caretakers of Maces’ home and business among other things. They fit perfectly at LSI since they were CIA operatives before they retired. We are introduced to the members of his staff made up mostly of men and Babs his office manager (and a highly trained operative that wanted a change of pace).
Fast forward to today’s time frame: Mace accidently runs into Sylvie literally at the start of the story as she is entering her office building spilling his coffee on her shirt. Even though it is a quick encounter they both feel an attraction to one another which is also out of character for both. Mace admonishes himself for not taking Sylvie up on a way to contact him to return a shirt she needed to borrow. He believes he’s met her before, but cannot remember where. After her run-in with Mace, Sylvie enters work only to be called by the school of her young son David to pick him up because he is ill. Hunkered down in her office trying to keep busy and stay quiet so he doesn’t get his mother in any more trouble with her boss, David stares at the construction site across the way and witnesses a crime through her office window.
As a business owner Mace follows both international, national and local “chatter” of crimes or potential crimes to see if LSI can assist. After he notices another report was made to the police by a boy’s mother he asks his staff to investigate it further and is surprised to recognize from her driver’s license photo that the boy’s mother is Sylvie. He then realizes why he knows her, he had met her when she was married to a fellow military man. On a vibe which Mace has learned to follow he approaches Sylvie about his interest in David’s case and his concern that the local authorities may not be taking it seriously. Thankfully, Mace has a good relationship with Roberto of the State Police who he has assisted in the past. As the plot thickens and David is embroiled in a life-threatening situation Mace takes charge of Sylvie and David’s protection and at the same time assists Roberto on the case with the help of the LSI team. As the story progresses so does the relationship between Sylvie and Mace. The storyline is good with a decent mystery in the plot to go along with the relationship of Mace, Sylvie and her son David.
I feel it was a good start for a new series and I know each book in Maryann’s series becomes better as the series progresses!!

I read this book a few years ago and it was so good I wanted to read it again. Mace, Sylvia and her son David become embroiled in a murder her 8 year old son witnessed which police think was “the child’s” over active imagination. Mace saw the police reports and his”spicy sense” was sriused. As their story u folds things become dangerous and Mace is forced to take action to protect the 2 people he has come to care for. Loved it twice!

Oh wow, I loved Mace, Sylvie, David and the Lighthouse crew from the get go. The first few chapters lay the foundations as to how both Mace and Sylvie got to th e beginning of the story. The new building opposite Sylvies office was hiding some dodgy dealings and young David is witness.
The story moves at a good pace and builds well for this story and future adventures as each character gets their own story.
I 'm looking forward to the rest of this series and would definitely recommend this author.

Mace is the no nonsense owner of Lighthouse Security Investigations. Sylvie is a single mom to an amazing boy. I of course love the connection between Mace and Sylvie but what had me tearing up was the relationship between Mace and David her 8 year old son. David witnesses a murder and Mace comes to help them. Absolutely love this book. Awesomely great start to a new series.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great story.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 8, 2020
I was recently introduced to Maryann Jordan and the Lighthouse Security Investigations Series, when I read a short story called Levi from the Danger and Desire anthology, and frankly it left me intrigued to read more. And as Mace's story was first I thought I'd start with him and I'm glad I did, as Mace was a great read. That was well-written and nicely paced, and it had a nice amount of suspense/mystery in it. Although if I'm honest, I was expecting more in the way of action and thrills. But I really liked the characters, and the romance was incredibly engaging. Not to mention, I found the friendship and bond that Mace created with Sylvie's young son David very sweet. And I was engaged in the story from the start, and I continue to be intrigued enough by these characters to want to read more.

    Would happily recommend.
