- Reviewed in the United States on June 20, 2021Throughout the pandemic I have been waiting for someone to write a fiction book that would recognize and show how people handled their lives during the pandemic - this book satisfied me immensely! It's well-written and wonderfully creative as to the main and sub plots. It made me laugh as well as cry (in a good way) and I didn't want to put it down. I hope this author writes more books!

Nothing better than a nice story to lift your spirits and I believe Chloe James achieved this with Love in Lockdown.
Sophia Trent and Jack Stanton are living in the same building without ever meeting in person. Jack has some health issues and he’s unable to leave his apartment during the pandemic lockdown. Sophia, on the other hand, is able to continue with her job as a teacher. She studied law but after developing epilepsy she gave up her career and now works with kids. Due to her illness, her boyfriend of five years didn’t want to stay with her.
One day after that NHS clapping, she becomes emotional and starts crying. Jack who lives above Sophia can hear her and they strike a conversation. Soon this becomes the norm. Sophia sends treats his way, while he sends special cocktails using a box and rope to her apartment balcony. Together, this duo and with the help of WhatsApp start helping their courtyard community.
Love in Lockdown brings some solid points about the pandemic including mental health issues that can arise from isolation, the need to help the elderly and other vulnerable populations, the importance of telemedicine and exhaustion of the healthcare workers, the need for teachers to help kids during these dire times.
My one complaint about the book would be the ending, I felt it needed more. Something was missing in the romance department.
Cliffhanger: No

- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2021It was interesting to read something that captures the current situation as it was early on in the Pandemic, but the pace was slow. Some of it hard to visualize and the lack of details and descriptions left you guessing. The opening “meeting”was confusing and forgotten long before the ending so it brought nothing interesting to the story. Overall it was ok but I found the ending too anticlimactic. More about the event causing the lockdown are needed. It’s like COVID can’t be mentioned for some odd reason.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2021I absolutely loved this book! Even though most of us are tired of this pandemic, this book was a ray of sunshine. Perfectly written and you can’t help but love all the amazing characters. To love and helping your neighbors!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 24, 2021I love how the author intertwined a variety of lockdown experiences besides the two main characters. I was a classroom teacher during quarantine and I hold a special place in my heart for those kiddos, so I genuinely appreciated Sophia's character. The one thing that got redundant was the back and forth dialogue, however it was necessary due to the topic of the story. I'd recommend to those wanting a heartwarming, unique take on the recent pandemic circumstances.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2020I’d been looking for any fiction novels that take place during the covid pandemic, so I grabbed this when I saw it - and it is so sweet and so much fun! Definitely recommending it to my friends.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2021the story for the times we're in. I enjoyed the characters going through their dai!y a activities and problems. Could 't be more on point.Predictable, but that's okay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book!
I bought this book a while back at the recommendation of a friend, but I hadn't really the time to just sit and read. The other day, I finally picked it up, needing something to simply pass a bit of time...and I was swiftly hooked. I couldn't bring myself to put it down for long, and I berated myself for taking so long to read it. The two different perspectives were amazing, getting to see inside both Jack's and Sophias heads. Seeing how lockdown affected people in different ways was moving. I was mostly stuck inside for the first lockdown because I lived with my dad who is in the high risk category like Jack, so I related to him the most. Their whole relationship developed at a great pace. It didn't feel rushed, and the more I read, the more I just wanted to read. The ending is so perfect, though I would love to know what happened next with the characters!

4.0 out of 5 stars Charming and sweet is the best way to describe this book.
It tells us the story of Sophia Trent and Jack Stanton who live in the same building and never meet in person. Jack has some health issues and he’s unable to leave his apartment. Sophia, on the other hand, is able to continue with her job as a teacher, although she also has some health issues.

Sophia sends treats his way, while he sends special cocktails using a special box and rope to her apartment balcony. Together they start helping their courtyard community.
Their conversations and the share of their daily concerns and activities will lead to an attraction.
Will their attraction still be there when finally met in person?
This is a feel-good, hopeful story written in a time when things don’t feel good or particularly hopeful.

4.0 out of 5 stars AHHH!
A lovely book, cleverly recording all the idiosyncrasies of life in lockdown. Inspired to write a book set in the pandemic and to incorporate all the details that one day may be forgotten. The characters are very endearing and the twists engaging. It is uplifting even whilst dealing with real challenges like epilepsy, kidney disease and of course the pandemic. Real life, real challenges, but a comforting read. Well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read for all ages
I read this book on holiday and then passed it on to my mum who read it as well, so this review includes both of our thoughts.
I found the book a perfect holiday read, it was a good reminder of what 2020 was like and it's amazing some of the things about Lockdown already seem like a distant memory. The characters in the book were all likeable and it was a positive, light hearted read, despite being set in lockdown.
My mum absolutely loved the book, and read it in about 2 days flat!
I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quite good....but...
It was really interesting casting my mind back to lockdown and I thought I would enjoy this book. But the basis of these two not actually seeing each other was rather far fetched. I am sure with mobile phones and apps they could have seen photos. And as fir the box going up and down....just leave it outside each others door!
