Lie to Me Kindle Edition
Now I have a deep-rooted mistrust of people and a wall of steel and ice surrounding my heart.
So, when Reed Ryan steps into my life, I know I need to keep him far away.
He’s everything I grew up hating. Fighting. Fleeing.
Devastatingly handsome, he looks like a drunken regret and has heartbreak written over every inch of his body—literally. He’s the quintessential bad boy . . . and he’s a cop.
But the man is my undoing.
When I push, he stands firm.
When I fight, he battles for us.
When he touches me, my traitorous body and heart respond.
Little does Reed know, every lie I feed him is laced with truth.
I have demons that refuse to let me go. Now one of them is threatening to destroy us both.

About the author
Molly grew up in California but now lives with her husband and daughter in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas. When she's not diving into the world of her characters, some of her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and long walks on the beach . . . which roughly translates to being a homebody and dishing out movie quotes with her hubby. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies and loves curling up in a fluffy blanket during a thunderstorm . . . or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2024This book was so good. It was the first book I’ve read by Molly McAdams so far, but I was not disappointed. I cried a lot; and this book definitely brought back my own early childhood flashbacks. It ended so beautifully as well. Honestly the relationship between Reed and Emma is THE ONE to strive for because you can fall in lust at first sight; but I’ve always felt that you need to go through some turmoil together in order to KNOW that it’s love.

Truly such a good book. I couldn’t put it down, the plot is incredible. I want to reread it
- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2024Quick Summary:
🌶️ 3/5 Chili Peppers – slow burn, descriptive romance.
🎧 3.5/5 Audiobook Rating – I prefer duet narration over dual, but the narrators did a great job.
⭐ 4/5 Stars – Read the trigger warnings. This one hit close to my heart and pulled at me emotionally. I made sure to give my husband an extra hug and kiss for being such an amazingly patient man.
Now the details:
The trigger warnings are there for a reason—this story isn’t just about romance; it’s about navigating through the kind of pain that leaves scars. Having experienced some of the same trauma as Emma and marrying my own “Reed” gave me a unique perspective on this book. I was physically triggered while reading, but it also felt profoundly healing. I understood Emma’s reactions and emotions because I’ve been there and I relived some of it during this book. But seeing things through Reed’s perspective broke me in an entirely new way. His unconditional love, patience, and quiet support mirrored what I’ve been blessed with in my own husband. Reed’s story reminded me just how much strength it takes to love someone through their pain. My husband truly is my sunrise.
The narration was solid, though I personally prefer duet narration to stay fully immersed. That said, the narrators did an excellent job capturing the raw emotions of the characters, especially in the most heart-wrenching moments.
This is a story that will leave you emotionally raw, but if you’re ready for that, it’s absolutely worth the journey.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2024I finished this in one day. I'm bawling. I'm torn apart. This book was so hard. It hit you in all of your feelers. There was so much going on at all times but it was a good busy as it follows Emma and her harder than I could have imagined life and her journey back home to her Lala. She found out she has a sister and that sister has an adoptive father who will become the love of her life. Through heart ache and love they found a way 🥰
- Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2021I LOVED this book! Ugh, but then again, it's Molly and we all know my love for her.
Reed is so well done. He looks like a bad boy, has the ink and the muscles, but deep down is the sweetest guy you will ever meet. He's a cop, ex military and has taken a liking to Emma. Oh and if you've read Molly's other books, you'll know who his parents are.
Then come on in Emma. The lovely girl who just came back to town from NY, with her nice clothes, the heels and of course her past that makes letting Ryan in hard as is, forget trying to love him. Poor Emma though had a really tough childhood and now after things that went down in NY, she just came home, well to her grams really. Oh, and a baby sister that she didn't even know existed and was jealous off the bat that she got ditched with grams and didn't have to deal with the crappy mom that they have.
Any who, I adored these two so much! I could relate with both of them in so many ways actually that it hit home and the emotions were going on this one. But what I love is just how much Ryan loves Emma and works so damn hard to make sure she is okay in every way. One of my favorites (spoiler here) is how he knows she doesn't like cops, so one night he has her take off his uniform. That way she would get to see that he really isn't that bad of a guy that she thinks, that its really just a uniform. But oh you just have to read it for yourself to see just how kind and patient he really is.
Another win for Molly!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2024Wow this was an amazing read such raw emotion and examples of learning to trust again despite the unimaginable occurrence that have happened to Emma and Reed alike. It wasn't rushed and everything played out in a way that left me thoroughly satisfied. I couldn't put it down! I also loved how the family dynamics were written for all the characters especially Donna's feelings about her family book store it was really sweet.
Run to this read you will not be disappointed. As long as you can handle reading about a person overcoming childhood and adulthood traumas related to neglect, drugs, and se**al abuse.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2024Emma has had such a hard life so far even since she was a kid. When she finally ups and leaves Manhattan due to being taken advantage, she goes to her grandmother Lala's house and meets her little sister Nora for the first time. Lala cooks for the first responders every Thursday, especially Reed. Emma hates him right off the bat because of what she went through as a kid from her mother, and it gets worse when she finds out he's a cop. But the way Reed reassures her that he's not bad is so sweet and caring taking his time and not pushing. They finally can't ignore their feelings are start to get closer, with a little meddling from Lala to help, and they each open up about their pasts. Things start to get really troublesome for them with Emma's family, and then especially when the truth about Manhattan comes out that ended up hurting quite a few people. The relationship that Reed has with Nora is just adorable and its rare to hear about someone like him taking on a kid that's not even related to him at all, but he thinks of her as his anyways. I love how everyone in Reeds life welcomed Emma and treated her as part of their group, even with her working on her past demons.

Honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy it as I'm more of a Romantasy fan. I enjoyed the tangled up feelings and heart wrenching emotions. Worth the read

5.0 out of 5 stars All the feels
This was a very emotional read. Loved the characters and the story. I was feeling some parts were becoming repetitive but the story did move on and some of the subject matter is sensitive so I wouldn't expect things to be brushed over. I would recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars a story with depth
Definitely one of my favourite reads. Unpredictable with HEA. The understanding and patience Reed shows Emma time and time again and the struggles Emma faces as she wrestles the demons of her past. A breathtaking love with a well written plot and engaging characters. Five stars!

At times, a bit cheesy, but, thoroughly entertaining! It even had me wrapped up in trying to guess what would happen next!

5.0 out of 5 stars emotional
What a read, loved this book so much, Emma had gone through so much in her life and when she finally found her way back to her grandmother she didn’t expect to find a sister she knew nothing about, and on top of that fall in love with a cop, somone who she had been terrified of all her life, but he showed her how to heal, how to love and how to be strong again, truly wonderful read
