About the author

Amazon #1 Bestselling Author and a Readers' Favorite Gold Medal winner.
A veteran of the corporate rat-race, John W. Mefford never realized he was mentally documenting every experience of his professional journey—not until he started his first novel during a so-called "corporate timeout."
A voracious reader of mystery-thrillers since before he could shave, John enjoys weaving a twisty tale that keeps readers riveted until the last page. He's also learned he's pretty good at embellishing. Just don't tell his fourth-grade teacher.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2017Ivy has her hands full this go around. It starts with Megan and a phone call that her daughter has been abducted and she must wire money to get her release. With no proof they will, she wires the money and hopes for a phone call. She then calls her husband who, after her explanation, tells her their daughter is with him. Ivy's first case of the day. Zahara has a new beau and is head over heals over him. However her father visits Ivy to try and get her to look into Zeke and his past. Ivy is really torn with his information as to what she should do. She doesn't want to lie to her BFF but doesn't want her hurt either. Between the two cases Ivy and Christina are faced with an inebriated mother, a father who's past is now questionable and a BFF she needs to protect. And we thought we had a bad day. The events enfold and the anxiety builds as you get to the end. Very fast paced, suspenseful and a GREAT read!!! Can't wait for the next series of books, Ozzie. John is going to have to work hard to top this one. Somehow, he always does.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2020Everyone was a star in this story. Ivy was the main character, but Stans road to his new self was present and heartwarming. nicks presence in the cases and his cousins life was affirming. Christina’s snark and care for her new family/circle was on point and realistic. Zahara was more visible and her story had many moving parts that well stunk for her, but her character knocked them out the of the park.
This story was fast paced and at first did not seem connected, but then boy were some out there connections made that had my mouth open in shock. One of my favorite reads by this author so far!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 14, 2017Wow, the best Ivy Nash Thriller yet. In this 5th book of the Ivy Nash thrillers, Ivy is forced to choose between a fine line of being a loyal friend and protecting someone close to her and in the process she is pulled into an international investigation that threatens the lives of so many. Is she in over her head this time? Guess you will have to get your copy to find out. You will not regret it. This book introduces some unique story lines and dangerous situations that keeps the reader guessing how it will all play out.
Favorite part was seeing Ivy in a broader role outside of her typical ECHO job to protect kids on a individual basis, while in the end she was still protecting more children than she could ever imagine. This book showed the breadth of character like none other. My least favorite part and only somewhat negative thing I can say is that the book does have swear words but thankfully they are not prevalent. Highly recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2017IN Control... another fantastic book in Mr. Mefford's Redemption Series. Although I am an advance reader, I purchased the book as soon as it was available. In spite of the fact this story is in the middle of the series, you will find it quite enjoyable. Of course, you will most likely grab all the earlier books, to find out what happened before, and continue with the next in line. The writing is crisp, characters well developed and likeable (except the antagonists who are the kind you love to hate). An excellent addition to your library, I strongly recommend you buy this, and any other of John's tales.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2017Ivy Nash is another unquenchable female lead character! Along with his Alex Trout, he has created some outstanding females. I feel that they could be real people and my friends. This is a great addition to his series and I hope there are more to come!

3.5 stars. Compelling and depressing series. Easy to follow but difficult to read at times due to emotions evoked. Not all questions are answered or problems resolved. Violence but no drag-you-down drama.
Interesting storyline with descriptive writing. Procedures, actions and reactions are realistic. Believable characters with distinct personalities. Thought-provoking and snarky dialogue.
No desire to re-read this story or follow the series. I am interested in other works by this author.
Remember this is my personal opinion and does not reflect on the author.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2017A fast-paced, gripping start quickly draws the reader in, and things just get better from there. Two seemingly unrelated stories ultimately become intricately merged into a superb novel with countless twists and surprises involving both familiar characters as well as new additions. I've read all the Alex Troutt and Ivy Nash books, and after each one, I think Mr. Mefford has outdone the previous one. This one is no exception. But even if you're not already a reader of the series, I highly recommend this book. You're sure to want to catch up after this introduction. I received an advance reader copy, but have since purchased a copy because I want my library to be complete.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 10, 2017How does John Mefford do it? With each book the level of intensity increases. In this book, Ivy has two objectives. Find out who is committing fake kidnappings and find out if Zeke is working for a major drug lord. One will spare parents from heartache (or a possible heart attack) and one could crush Zahera. Calling on her favorite detective, and using his cousin in the FBI, she hopes she can solve these mysteries before they become tragedies.
If you are a fan of intense action, non-stop talking, and plot twists galore, you will absolutely love this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, sit back and enjoy the ride.
You know it's a great book when you end up staying up well into the early hours of the morning to finish it. You know the score, I just have to finish this chapter, then the next, then the next, and before you know it there are only another couple of chapters left, well you need to know how it finished don't you! I'm just glad I don't have work this morning.
What a thrilling rollercoaster ride Ivy is on in this book, torn between love for her best friend and trying to look out for her. Trying to find the person responsible for the child kidnapping plot of her latest client. How does this young woman manage to hold it all together?
A great thrilling read with so many twists and turns, all you have to do is sit back and enjoy the ride.
I was offered this book for free in return for an honest review, however I have since bought the book so that my review is a verified purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ivy Nash book so far.
This is by far the best of the Ivy Nash books, the best of the 'Redemption' series, and one of the best books that I have read this year! The plot is so clever and original that it is almost impossible to predict where it will head next. The opening is simply breathtaking with a mother being told that her young child has been kidnapped, the threats and the mother's reactions are so convincing that it makes the blood run cold.
From there things go from bad to worse for Ivy, her best friend Zahera and Ivy's young protégé, Christina. This book lacks some of the physical violence that defined the early Ivy Nash books, but the psychological abuse and sheer terror experienced by the various characters throughout the book are frighteningly realistic, and for just as effective.
On a lighter note it was nice to have characters from the Alex Troutt series making a 'guest appearance'.
I can't wait to see where this 'Redemption' series goes next, it looks like it's going to be a wild ride!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Better to be lucky ..."
Ivy Nash is finally free of Milton Weber, the sadistic monster who has tortured and terrified her, but the price has been high for her friends as well as herself. But those friendships have endured and now she and her young colleague, Cristina, can think of finding office space for her growing company, ECHO, dedicated to helping young people, whilst best friend, the extrovert Zahera, is madly in love and planning to marry. But nothing is really what it seems...
This very fast moving and intriguing story from the excellent John Mefford is the best Ivy Nash so far and the reader is even treated to reunion with news of old favourites from the earlier series. But this is still a stand alone novel which anyone enjoying well written mystery thrillers should enjoy. Recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read - great series
Another great read from John Mefford. Definitely the best in the Ivy Nash series.....so far! Ivy is asked by her best friend's father to investigate her fiance, as he has some doubts about whether he is everything he claims to be. Ivy has mixed emotions on going behind her friends back - what if its all unfounded, or even worse what if its not...
On top of this, a mother is subjected to a fake kidnapping of her and forced to pay a ransom. She ends up at the ECHO office - life unravelling and desperate for their help. Can Ivy and Christina unravel the truth to both challenges before its too late
