Humanity's greatest enemies will be revealed!

Book 1 of 4 in the bestselling Wandering Stars series

Since the ages before time was measured, the angelic races have existed. Unseen by our eyes, they move through creation, shaping our world, sustaining our existence, and battling demonic hordes. But the war is changing; the battle lines are expanding into new frontiers and the next epoch is emerging.

Centuries after the first humans were exiled from their home, their descendants have pushed eastward into a prehistoric wilderness. In a land shrouded by mist and superstition, primitive tribes struggle to establish new civilizations, unaware that their world is about to change forever.

Weary from unceasing conflict, Sariel—legendary warrior of the Eternal Realm—crosses into the Temporal in search of the only one who can bring him peace. But he is not the first; others have already begun their inhabitation. As the dominance of their kingdom spreads, threatening to engulf all of humanity, Sariel finds himself standing between his own kind and the one he loves and must embrace the life he abandoned in order to secure her freedom.

In this riveting prequel to the Amazon bestselling Awakened series, Jason Tesar sets in motion a sweeping fantasy epic birthed at the very foundations of mankind, when our prehistoric world collided with supernatural forces, spawning an age of mythological creatures and heroes.

Interview with the Author

Q – What was the inspiration for the Wandering Stars series?

A – I’ve always been fascinated by the subject of angels, fallen angels, Nephilim, and demons. As a religious person, I carried this metaphysical perspective into my study of myths and legends. And to my surprise, I found much common ground between it and the Greek & Roman gods, as well as the heroes and monsters of Norse and Viking mythology. I wondered if one might have caused the other … if the myths were actually true at their core.

As I constructed the fictional universe of The Awakened series from this idea, imagining how the story would play out in our modern existence, I couldn't help but be drawn-in by the backstory as well. And the more I imagined, the surer I became that such an epic beginning required its own series.

Q – What makes this story unique?

A – Like many other fantasy authors, I have enjoyed reading the stories of Tolkien. The richness and depth of his invented cultures and history are an inspiration. While that level of authenticity is also the goal for my own writing, Wandering Stars pushes the conventions of the epic fantasy genre in a completely different direction. By building upon a foundation of comparative mythology and tweaking some of its assumptions, I've created a story that offers a unique and exciting view into our own origins. And the result is not your standard fare of elves and dwarves, swords and sorcery, or knights and dragons. While some of those elements are present, the civilizations are original, and the environment is immersive. What you’ll find is a tale that is both realistic and fantastical. Unique, yet familiar. It is a large-scale, prehistoric clash of civilizations that will challenge what you think you know about our world.

About the Author

The third of four children and an introvert from the start, Jason Tesar grew up as an imaginative "middle child" who enjoyed the make-believe world as much as the real one, possibly more. From adolescence to adulthood, his imagination fed itself on a diet of books, movies, and art, all the while growing and maturing--waiting for its opportunity. Then, during a procession of monotonous, physically laborious day-jobs, his imagination leaped into motion, bringing together characters and locations of a world that would someday come to life on the pages of a book. In late 1998, Jason made his first attempt at writing, managing to complete a whole scene before returning once again to reality. A year and a half later, a spontaneous night-time conversation with his wife encouraged him to take his writing seriously and to keep on dreaming. Over the next seven years, Jason carved time out of the real world to live in an imaginary one of epic fantasy, science-fiction, and military/political conflict. The fruits of this labor would later become the first three books of the bestselling AWAKENED series. Due to the incredible support from readers around the world, Jason has continued his trajectory into make-believe, recently jumping from stable employment in the micro-electronics industry into the mysterious abyss of full-time writing. Living in Colorado with his beautiful wife and two children, Jason now spends the majority of his time fusing the best parts of his favorite genres into stories of internal struggle and triumph, friendship, betrayal, political alliances, and military conflict. His fast-paced stories span ancient and future worlds, weaving together threads of stirring drama and intense action that provoke reader comments such as, "I couldn't put it down," and "I'll read anything he writes."

I found myself so enamored by this series that I just went from one to the next very quickly, without writing any reviews.
Book 1 Incarnation is where we're introduced to the Wandering Stars which are angels who have left the Eternal Realm and gone to the Temporal Realm. Our main character Angel-Sariel is one of these characters except that he's truly a good guy who's been pushed past his own tolerance and spiritual exhaustion . He falls fir a human woman and chooses to stay on Earth and not return to the Holy One's realm. Because of his and the others decisions the humans are places in a servitude role. Things they do tend to make things worse for humans. I mean, it's down right awful for them. Through out the series, the other Wandering Stars' only focus is to become gods with their own realms or kingdoms. Sariel is the only exception. He's always kind and only tries to help the humans. Unfortunately this usually back fires in some way. The humans suffer but so does Sariel. I found myself rooting for him and terribly sad when he was sad.
The books are full of drama, action, & intrigue. Sariel moves around a lot so there's an ever changing scenery and a new cast of characters, which I like. This is what keeps the story fresh, entertaining and the reader engaged. The author is very good at leading you thru scenes and the story in a very easy style, it's not forced at all. The only time it seemed forced was in book 4, the Epilogue. One of my most frustrating occurrences with this book was the name of the different types of angels and demons, etc. there wasn't just one name their were several depending upon their military jobs, etc. Normally this might not have been an issue but in this case the names are very much alike and It becomes very- very confusing. Thank goodness for a Glossary but who likes to have to constantly look back and forth between reading and looking up he info all the time? Not me.
I'm a little surprised the series ended without some things being resolved in an ongoing story, ie book 5 vs a tell all style in an epilogue. However none of this changes the fact that I really liked the story and the original concepts within the storyline. It looks like the story may continue but in a new series, "The Awakened". I'm planning on, at least, seeing where this new one goes.
This series was well edited and for age 17+ due to some of the violence. As far as the book cover goes, well I'm a little confused. There isn't a congruency between the 4 books in the series, other than the graphics appear to be, perhaps a medallion or symbol of some sort; however all 4 symbols are different, not even the colors are the same (the medallions themselves or the color background surrounding the symbols). I think it's nice to tie a series together in some way with the book cover and a visual perspective. The author could have still had different symbols but keep at least the outside shape of the symbol the same, ie a triangle within a circle or a square within a circle, etc.

I did read the entire book, although it started to drag a bit for me. I think the problem was that I kept thinking this was a novel based on the Bible. Although it does reference Scripture, it also references other works that might at best be considered fringe works, such as the Book of Enoch and others. If I would have approached this as a purely fantasy book, I probably would have enjoyed it more and not tried to see if the author was trying to stay biblically accurate.

The plot was not overly complicated, though I certainly had trouble trying to keep the various species or types of angles clear in my mind. The creative names did not automatically help me distinguish between them. Overall, the plot was simple and straightforward and I only encountered one surprise at the end.

The main characters are based on a human and an angel. But other than the fact that the angel had supernatural powers, there was no difference between the characters as far as humanity is concerned. The angel acted as much of a human as the human did. I found that a bit odd--but again, I was coming from a biblical perspective and the author was probably coming from a creative one. I could never really get behind the characters as individuals that I cared deeply about. I was more curious than anything. The villain wasn't developed enough to really hate him. He was doing despicable things, but those aspects were never really developed, so I was never clear on why. The main reason the hero and villain clashed was because the villain took someone the hero loved and he wanted her back.

I thought the writing was well done and I didn't get bogged down in too much detail. The pace moved nicely along, and outside of the many creative names, I wasn't lost as to what was happening and why. I mostly enjoyed the book, though I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't tried to see it through the eyes of the Bible.

Though I probably won't read more of the series, I would still think others will enjoy them, particularly if you don't come with the wrong set of expectations as I did.

I read Jason Tesar's Awakened series 1-5 (just ordered 6 but haven't read it yet) and love them but this is by far the best of all. I am hoping that Jason will take the time between completing the Awakened series to work on this series. I have to admit, I generally do like prequels that tell the background of a series that I love but this one is better than any other prequel. It helps us understand some of the background of what Kael is going through and rather gives me some ideas of where Tesar may take us. I think you should read THIS series first or along with the Awakened series. The ONLY problem is that this is the only book out right now. I recommend that you devour everything Jason Tesar writes because I have not read anything that didn't just grab the reader and keep you to the last word! Highest praise for this author and both series!

Absolutely loved this book. It is always nice when you get a book that makes you ignore the clock and keep reading even though it is two in the morning. I have always been fascinated by mythology of angels and I thought the book did an excellent job in mixing the accepted truth of judeo-christian tradition and the fiction of a novel. Bought the second book the series very next minute after I finished this one.

I was looking forward to this book, ever since I read the Awakened series ( 3 weeks ago ) & after reading the review on this site. I fully concur with that review, and now I am just hoping that my expectations aren't to high, as I cant wait to find out how everything came about.

I will say first off that it took me a few chapters to get into the story. Mostly this was due to the fact that there are a lot of words, terms that the Author would like to explain. By that I mean a lot of words in the Kindle Edition have links to the glossary, and in the first few chapters I do mean a lot. Now I don't look at the glossary until the end as this gives a better flow to the story, plus you can generally come to an understanding of the word/term the more you read, so even though its hard, don't let this phase you.

Once past this the whole thing is a joy to read, the descriptions of the world and its associated dimensions are done well, his take on the what I presume was the 'Book of Enoch' for inspiration and how this world is built, how humans and the spiritual beings work in their own world and in each others appears effortless, when in-fact it is quite complex, was inspired. The spiritual beings world and the way it works for me was well thought out, written and explained well.

It was a definite twist for me to see who the innocents were in this, and how the author took you down paths you didn't expect. I definitely wanted to see how Sariel came about, which you did but my favourite character was Enoch which pleasantly surprised me, but watching his progress was exciting, so well done.

The writing in this series for me was just as good as The Awakened, his ability to create a believable world and keep track of multiple threads is second to none, and I do like the detail that has been provided. This is definitely a world that is here to stay, with a large amount of thought going into its development & back story. It has me looking forward to the next in the series, both for the reasons above plus the ending was unexpected, & I expect that the characters development and the storyline, will not go down the path I expect.

Even with the slightly annoying links in the Kindle Edition, I would still give this 5 stars.

I'm speeding through the alphabet now, and Incarnation by Jason Tesar was my T.

When I started reading this book, I found it hard to get into it. It starts in a battle in the Eternal Realm between angels and demons and seems a bit same-old. But do persevere as it does get better. Sariel falls in love with a human, which isn't permitted. There is also the story of Enoch who is a prophet - he leaves his home, wife and child, to walk miles in order to preach the Holy One's message. Unlike other prophets, his message was for angels...

As a Christian, this was my context that I put the book in, but I would be interested to know if it can fit other world views or religions that have angels and demons?

So yes, I found the beginning of the book a bit unnecessary, many of the names of places, types of angel and their weapons have too many vowels (including 'y' as a vowel) - silly I know, but that's how I felt. You do get used to them, and understanding the differences between the types of angel becomes more relevant as the plot progresses. I confess, though, that I still didn't understand all the different weaponry: vaepir or vandrekt amongst them. I also don't know why they are always written in italics?

Once I got into the main part of the story, I did enjoy it, and have added the next in the Wandering Stars Series to my wishlist.
