    This story took me a little while to get into. Jake and Rhys spend a lot of time in the beginning being really quite unpleasant to one another. I can see where the attitudes are coming from, it just wasn’t my favorite part of the read. Thankfully it doesn’t take too long for them to start chipping away at the facades to get to the soft underbelly below. Jake’s been used for his fame by nearly every woman he’s encountered and he’s not sure Rhys is going to be any different. Rhys’s brother is about the only person who’s ever stuck by her, so she tends to expect the worst out of everyone she meets. This story reminds me a lot of the old joke about how do porcupines mate: very carefully. Because these two prickly personalities line up perfectly once they stop bristling at one another. I loved watching every minute of the pair of them falling in love.

    I just finished this book and I can't even begin to tell you how much I loved it. My heart is bursting. Marika knows how to write emotional, sweet romances that will tug at your heartstrings, while also diving into issues like preconceived notions, insecurities and not being able to trust someone easily due to past experiences. In the beginning Jake and Rhys were wary of one another but I loved watching their story progress and seeing their walls come tumbling down. I loved how swoonworthy Jake was and the chemistry between these two was undeniable. If your looking for a feel good romance, you definitely need to check out this book!

    So... you know when I said I was boycotting certain tropes? Well, I lied. How about we pretend that I said I was going to avoid certain authors who write said tropes? Does that sound as good to you as it does me? Yes? Sweet! It's settled! Haha.

    I'm not lying when I say... I absolutely LOVED this book! I had the hardest time putting it down and I already want to read it again. It was THAT good!

    You guys... I literally found myself laughing out loud and reading with one of those goofy perma grins on my face all while the butterflies in my stomach were going crazy. Why, you ask? Rhys and Jake.

    *dreamy sigh*

    Y'all these two. I just can't even begin to tell you about them. The moment these two meet, sparks start flying! And they kept flying until the very end. Both Rhys and Jake are passionate, strong characters. They know what they want and they refuse to give up until they get it. With Rhys's sass and Jake's suave ways, neither one of them stood a chance. I loved every minute of it. Hehe.

    I am really loving this series! It's a lot of fun and giving me that much needed break from reality amidst all this craziness. There's nothing better than curling up in my big, comfy chair and diving into a great book. I'm looking forward to reading Charlotte's story. She's been a bit of a mystery and I can't wait to discover her secrets.

    I am so glad that I found Ms. Ray! I've been in a bit of a rut lately and only reading books that I've already reviewed. But from the moment I picked up Lines We Cross, that rut seems to have disappeared. Gotta love when that happens!

    I love sports romances and I loved this sports romance. I appreciated that the author portrayed Jake as a pretty typical professional athlete and not as a perfect angel who happens to play professional baseball. But don’t worry, Jake really is a good guy and his reasons for doing what he is doing are the best reason in the world. And I really appreciated that Rhys doesn’t take any Holy Crud Balls from him (this will make sense when you read the book). You will love her sassiness self. And she has a couple of secrets she is keeping...

    The blurb on Amazon lays out the story well so I will not add to it. The surprises are there, the chemistry is really there and of course there are huge misunderstandings and obstacles to overcome. And the way Jake makes things right in the end is so cute and sweet, wooh baby!

    Why 4.5 stars and not 5? I must say I was a bit disappointed when I started reading and quickly realized it was written in first person. That’s my problem, not the authors. That said, it really worked for this book and you do feel like you are close up and personal with the characters’ thoughts and emotions (it is written with both POVs).

    Read the book. You will enjoy it.
