His Whiskey Sour (The Cocktail Girls) Kindle Edition

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 261 ratings

It’s time to get drunk on love!
The Cocktail Girls is a shared world between 14 of your favorite romance authors!
Each novella is a stand-alone story set in the city of sin.

HIS WHISKEY SOUR

Easton Harrison always gets what he wants.
All this rock star has to do is crook his finger and women come running. Unfortunately, hook-ups don’t inspire the songs he’s known for and Easton hasn't been able to write a word since his last hit.

After he lands an exclusive gig in Vegas at the Millennium Hotel, the pressure’s on to write a new album. But Ireland, the challenging and sexy as hell cocktail waitress who works downstairs at the hotel’s swanky bar is exactly what he needs.

She's his muse whether she likes it or not. Too bad she doesn't date musicians.

She hates him, he wants her. It’s a match made in songwriting heaven, as long as he can convince her he’s worth the time.

Both narrators did great! Webber is one of my favorite narrators! A wonderful listening experience!

Quick sweet read with a fun premise. Don’t love musician romances, but this was a cute one. Easton is struggling to write new songs, but finds his new muse in cocktail waitress/bartender, Ireland. Unfortunately for him, Ireland isn’t exactly a fan of musicians, but she can’t resist Easton’s charms. The “drama” was on the stupid side because it was a bad look for the common sense of one of the characters, but overall, I enjoyed this story! Good passion and sweet connection!

Easton Harrison is a musician with writer’s block. Ireland is a cocktail waitress in Vegas. He needs inspiration and upon meeting Ireland he finds his muse.

Easton isn’t your typical rocker, which is quite refreshing. He doesn’t drink or do drugs and he hasn’t had sex in a year. That’s like light-years for a rockstar.

I liked Ireland in the opening scenes from Easton’s POV, but not as much in her own POV. She has issues from a past failed relationship which she keeps projecting on this one. One minute she’s keeping Easton at a distance, the next moment she’s professing insta-love. Her hot/cold didn’t work for me, specifically in regards to the following instances.

“It might seem too fast for some, but we’ve spent more time together than most couples in their first few months of dating. We’ve just done it all at once.”

This quote really had me seriously side-eying the heroine. What’s she’s saying makes no sense. These two have known each other less than a week, been secluded together less than 2 days. Vacationing together in a bubble is not the same as negotiating a relationship in the real world over the course of time. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy romantic fiction with this premise—where the hero and heroine get to know each other void of OW/OM drama—but the message that the heroine is trying to convey here is naïve at best, possibly even a little delusional.

Ireland is also a bit reckless. A guy you just met and who you think is only going to be in your life temporary should not be a man you’re having unprotected sex with. Sure in romancelandia the reader knows they’ll get their HEA, but romance is also realistic fiction, and this gal wasn’t being very realistic….or practical…or responsible. If he reaches for a condom, let him use it!

This started off strong and the pair has some steamy encounters, but it slipped as the story progressed. The misunderstanding is ridiculous on the heroine’s part given she already knew enough pieces of the Easton’s backstory to put it together.

The pitfalls of a novella length showed at places such as times where scenes seemed to switch abruptly and with the insta-love. This was not a romance that convinced me these two had staying power.

    The story ends at 74%.

Kim can definitely add sexy rocker to her list of her must reads! This hot and sinfully sweet read between Easton and Ireland was definitely short and equally addictive. Not only did I love this story, but I wouldn't mind hearing more about these great characters!

As with the rest in the series, this is a short tale to give you a taste of the author's writing. They're all set in the same club in Vegas, which must have a high turnover due to waitresses with sad backstories being swept off their FMP's by rich, attractive men.

They meet, instant lust, get together under questionable circumstances, misunderstanding, resolution, HEA. So, the same as many contemporary romance novels, but on fast forward. Not bad, just unbelievably rapid pacing.

The writing style is decent, with 76% of the download the story and the rest teasers for other books. An example:

"I fall asleep with him in my head. His rough voice, the scent of leather and something spicy. My dreams were filled with Han Solo and Princess Leia, but in my subconscious, they didn't wait until the end to admit their feelings. They got down to business at the end of their first scene. And if I'm honest, my princess looked a lot like me, and my Han... well, let's just say, he had a lot of tattoos."

I loved this new novella from Kim Loraine. His Whiskey Sour is part of the The Cocktail Girls story world that is set in Las Vegas. Easton and Ireland have a chemistry that draws them immediately together as well as pulling in the reader. They are a hot and sexy couple that send the flame rating off the charts. I wish this book was longer just so I could read more about them!

What a cute book. This series is probably one of my favorites. I've never read a book by Kim before but I'm glad this was the first. It was sexy, sweet, fun and more. I adore Easton. Ireland is one lucky chick. Great book!

So glad I purchased this. Such a good read but way too short. I needed more, even an epilogue.
Musician Easton Harrison needs help. He has a mental block and needs to find inspiration to write music again. Meeting Ireland, a waitress in The Little Black Dress , shocks him and he needs her for inspiration. Only problem, she doesn’t like musicians as her ex was one who broke her heart. Now the fun begins. Helping him out , Ireland gets more than she bargained for with secrets and passion. Easton can’t just have a short time with Ireland, he realises he wants more too. Brilliant story full of passion, music and secrets. Loved it

This was a fast-paced and sweet love story about trust.
Even though Easton has all the fame and fortune, he is relatively down to earth. He is just a regular guy trying to live a dream. He’s not a lying slimeball musician but can he convince Ireland of this?
Ireland is running away from one lousy musician, and she is isn’t interested in falling for another! Can she realise Easton is different and give him a chance?
It was really lovely to get Ireland’s story, we briefly saw her in Tracy Lorraine’s contribution to this collaboration. We also get a cameo from Summer in the book. I do like a crossover between authors like this. I know they are doing a collaboration where the bones of the story are similar. However, it’s nice when they go that extra mile and intertwine the characters and their stories. It must take some planning!
A great read and I’m really enjoying catching up on the cocktail stories; I’m a bit late to the party, I’m afraid!

I am really loving this series set in the millennium Hotel Las Vegas. In this book we see Ireland , who has been hurt by an ex who was a musician but his music was more important than her. She meets Easton in the little black dress lounge and he wants to be with her. A week away with Easton as his muse sees her falling even more for him until her friend calls to tell her to look on the internet. An article threatens their happiness and she runs from him. Will Easton be able to tell her the truth? Will they get their HEA? A great read.
