Editorial Reviews

Evoking an era when prog, hard rock and heavy metal co-existed in an era of glorious, boundary-breaking music, the songs on this 2CD and digital collection trace the evolution of Heep from inexperienced studio musicians with everything to prove to bona fide, limo inhabiting rock stars. The Anthology cherry picks tracks from some of Heep's most celebrated albums including 'Demons And Wizards','Look At Yourself', 'Return To Fantasy', 'Equator', 'Conquest' and 'The Magician's Birthday'. Created with the full collaboration of Heep themselves and curated by guitarist and founder member Mick Box, the reissues come as 2CD expanded packages, with the original album on CD1 re-mastered by renowned engineer Andy Pearce of Lou Reed and Black Sabbath fame and complete with liner notes in extensive booklet with rare photos by the bestselling rock author Joel McIver. Box and Heep's sometime member Ken Hensley, composer of many of the band's best-known songs, contribute to each album's notes.

I just got into Uriah Heep a few years ago and am buying up all of their albums I can. With 30 studio albums under their belt the band has released a ton of great music that few people know about. I bought Your Turn to Remember because it has songs from a few of their albums that I don't have yet. Your Turn to Remember is a compilation of 25 of Uriah Heep's songs from their first 17 studio albums between 1970 and 1990. It focuses entirely on songs written by the band, omitting all covers. The song selection is excellent. The packaging for the vinyl edition is well-done. The liner notes featuring recent interviews with guitarist Mick Box and original keyboardist Ken Hensley are so good it's worth buying the album just for that text.

My only complaint is that the mastering of the vinyl edition is too muddy. Compared to my 70s and 80s pressings of the original studio albums, this release manages to be both too quiet and too bassey. I've gotta crank my receiver much louder than usual and turn the bass way down. It's annoying.

5 stars for the music and packaging. 3 stars for the audio quality. 4 stars overall. Recommended for anyone getting into Uriah Heep who wants a compilation covering more than just their 70s output. Will also please Heep completists.

I am a fanatical Uriah Heep listener. Ive seen them in concert several times. I’ve purchased all of their albums, either on vinyl or CD and in some cases both. My favorite Heep period is 70s and this two album set covers that era nicely. It also has some of their more popular contemporary tunes.

The only complaint I have (and it is really a small complaint) is it is a two album set but both vinyl records are in the same jacket as opposed to a gatefold sleeve.

A must for any Uriah Heep fan.

Before I got this, I only had heard Easy Livin. But I'm always looking for music I might have missed. On Wikipedia, it says Uriah Heep was very hot in the early 80's (a UK band) but for some reason fell off of the face of the earth. Heep was NOT a one hit wonder and most of the songs on this collection are very good. This collection is a really good deal, 33 songs and most of them are really good.
