    “Hard Time” is another great story by the writing duo of Jane Henry and Loki Renard. Once again, the action starts from page one and both Ms. Henry and Ms. Renard set a challenging pace to the story that keeps the entertainment high and me tapping those pages throughout the cat and mouse game between Rico and Jasmine—leaving you to wonder who is the cat and who is the mouse. So many likes to this story: enemies to lovers, (not so) good guys winning, cat and mouse game, Rico and Jasmine’s chemistry, add in some really great secondary characters who also get their second chance (avoiding spoilers but yassss!), or is it first? And I could go on, but I won’t. Suffice to say, if you enjoy either or both of these authors and your romances bordering on the erotic, then you want to grab a copy of “Hard Time.” It’s a great addition to what I hope will be a series.

    “Hard Time” is a sequel of sorts to Loki & Jane’s “Criminal”, featuring Agent Rico and the very bad girl Jasmine Francoise. The story started off very hot and I was anxious to see the confrontation between the these ‘opposite sides of the law’ characters play out. Sadly, I thought the animosity between the two solved itself too quickly for my own tastes and the elements of discipline that are my own personal fixation weren’t there in any sustained way. The action here seemed more focused on the drama of Jasmine’s family and her attempts to free herself from her father and brother rather than building the what I expected to be contentious relationship between the two love interests. In this sense it seemed a little rushed to me.

    It’s a still a great story though, and well-worth the read, just a little less perversity than I’ve come to anticipate from these authors.

    Do expect a continuation of this series featuring the even worse bad boy brother Leon Francoise and his new government “handler” Eric in the future. Loki Renard’s M/m stories tend to particularly debauched so that entry is likely to be a real sizzler.

    Honestly I think part of the problem I have with Jane Henry and Loki Renard's newest book Hard Time may be me. There is no question they are both excellent writers however Rico was just too harsh and Jasmine so annoying it was difficult for me to connect with them or the story. I will take more care in the future determining just how dark a story they are telling. However, as a reader if you enjoy a darker hard line hero you may enjoy the story very much.

    Rico has a job to do. He plans to shake up Jasmine Francoise. She is a spoiled little rich girl that has been running cons with her brother and family, the “French Connection,” for a while. She loves to flash her money and cars but Rico hasn’t found a way to nail her, till now. He plans to show her the right side of the law even if it reddens her bottom.

    I love that we get to read about Colt and Sonya again. Those two were fun in the first book, “Criminal.” Sonya still is trying to make up for what she did in the last book with Colt right there to keep her on the up and up. You think that Jasmine is all business but when you get behind closed doors and find out about her Dad and brother, you really root for her to get out. Rico PO’d when he found out and took matters into his own hands. YEAH! I love the play between these two. But when her Dad wants to talk with Rico, oh boy I does it heat up. There is a part of the story I kept say, “for Pete’s sake Google what she is saying.” I mean, right. Wouldn’t you think that would help? I do wish we knew what happened with Sonya though. They never did say apart from what was writing.

    Jasmine comes from a family of crime, something she
    has to be and Rico the fbi agent that's on their trail.
    The pair are hot and sexy with each other from the start
    but it heats up even more when Rico's protective instincts
    kick in. The sex is hot with a touch of age play and the plot
    is thick with mystery and danger. I would urge anyone that
    enjoys a book with adventure, danger, angst and sensual, sexy
    as can be! We also get to see Colt and Sonya again in this story.

    Wow, OMG, suspense, thrill, joy relief...I could just go on cause I felt all of these just by reading Hard time..
    Jane and Loki know how to take you through these feelings just through their own books but in this they team up for their second book and those feelings are more intense.
    I love how Rico tries to bring Jasmine to the right side of the law even though he had to blisters her backside a time or two to do it and by becoming her daddy she succumb to Rico’s masterful touch...
    Definitely needs more than 5 stars..

    I liked this book but not as much as I enjoyed the first one about Cole and Sonya. The huge age difference bothers me. In real life Jasmine would probably find herself widowed long before she would want. Also in nearly all of this type of book by whatever author the submissive women seem to have had very damaging childhoods for any number of reasons. Why can no author create a mentally undamaged submissive female? Is there no such thing? Not being in that type of relationship,I wouldn’t know. However I accept that these are fantasies and that readers are aware that physical abuse is definitely not okay. Most books skirt political correctness by having the woman ask for or consent to even in an unspoken way this treatment thus making it consensual. I love a strong, loving and protective man and wish I had one in my life. So I get my fix by reading and enjoying this type of book. Rico is definitely strong, protective and loving and Jasmine certainly needs all that he has to give and she fulfills his need to nurture and protect. Read at your own risk and feel free to enjoy it. I did.

    This is a story about over coming a very bad parent and finding love. The story has a few places it felt a little flat but it gets better once they finally get together... I guess. There are bits that are kinda confusing but by the end it makes more sense.
