Emit: a psychological thriller short story Kindle Edition
What would you do with unlimited time?
Emit Trotsid is a young, philanthropic entrepreneur with the means to change human civilization as we know it. He has discovered how to utilize a psychological phenomenon known as time distortion—the difference between elapsed time and perceived time—to achieve the nearest approximation of immortality. Seeing the internet as our collective human consciousness, and the sharing of ideas as a basic human right, Emit is days away from launching his brainchild, a web-based training tool that he will make available to everyone free of charge. As his team of handpicked pioneers use their own innovations to set events in motion, Emit’s world begins to unravel. What began as a utopian venture threatens to collapse into an apocalyptic nightmare unless Emit can decode the enigma of his own fear.
"You’ve heard it said that we can’t change the time we are given, only how we use it? Well, that’s not exactly true anymore. I’ve discovered that by changing how we use it, we can change the time we are given. This is what we as a species have been seeking since the dawn of our existence—immortality. My name is Emit Trotsid, and I am the world’s foremost pioneer of lucid time distortion. I’m going to share my technology freely with the collective human consciousness. I will teach you how to claim what’s rightfully yours; but the question is, what will you do with that time?"
That’s my marketing pitch. At least, it used to be … before the paranoia, headaches, and premonitions.
Emit is a short story that explores the subject of time perception, merging the psychological thriller and techno thriller genres to create a mind-bending vision of our future.

About the author

The third of four children and an introvert from the start, Jason Tesar grew up as an imaginative “middle child” who enjoyed the make-believe world as much as the real one, possibly more. From adolescence to adulthood, his imagination fed itself on a diet of books, movies, and art, all the while growing and maturing—waiting for its opportunity.
In late 1998, Jason made his first attempt at writing, managing to complete a whole scene before returning once again to reality. A year and a half later, a spontaneous nighttime conversation with his wife encouraged him to take his writing seriously and to keep on dreaming. Over the next seven years, Jason carved time out of the real world to live in an imaginary one of epic fantasy and science-fiction. The fruits of this labor would later become the first three books of the Amazon bestselling AWAKENED series.
Due to the incredible support of readers from around the world, Jason continued his trajectory into make-believe, jumping from stable employment in the microelectronics industry into the mysterious abyss of full-time writing. Living in Colorado with his beautiful wife and two children, he fused the best parts of his favorite genres into stories of internal struggle and triumph, friendship and betrayal, political alliances, and military conflict.
Eleven novels and one short story later, Jason’s imagination is just getting started. But the challenges and responsibilities of the real-world are gaining strength, trying to pull him back.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2015This was a good short story, but I feel like it ended right when it got more interested. Emit is a great character and has a revolutionary idea for the future. He does his research and everything is going well until events from his past resurface at the most inconvenient time. I felt that the storyline about the events from his past was even more interesting then the program he was releasing to the masses; unfortunately that didn't end up being the focus until the very end and even then only minorly.
Regardless, this was a quick short read that gives a great overview of the author's writing style.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2014Updated this review to give better insight into what this book has to offer. The old review is also there for anyone that's interested. Be sure to check out Jason's other series as well. Awaken His Eyes: The Awakened Book One and its prequel Incarnation: Wandering Stars Volume One
Updated review:
Jason Tesar's "Emit" will keep your brain working as you fly through this short story. Every tiny detail has potentially life altering effects that you may not fully understand until that "ah-ha" moment at the end. You'll find new details and connections each time you read it. The best comparison I can make for this amazing short story is that it reminds me of the movie Memento.
Older review:
This is a short story and it seems just as you really get into it... BOOM, it's over. I would love to read more of this character and what happens after this story. If you enjoy something that really teases your brain and want something that will make you read it twice to make sure you catch everything then this is a great book for you. I don't want to spoil anything but my only words of advice are to pay attention to everything, and I mean EVERYTHING.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 22, 2014I love Jason Tesar's series but this was not his best work. It could be that it was too short and didn't give us enough time to really become familiar with the characters. Or maybe I was expecting something related to the Awakened Series (which I love) but this book, while it did have a cool twist in there, did not hold my interest completely.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2016I want more. Will there be a sequel? This was a very good story but I want to know what happened to Emit. Jason is such a good writer. He grabs you from the first sentence and doesn't let go. That's why it is so hard to deal with when the story ends abruptly leaving you wanting to know more.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2015I enjoyed reading Emit, it has one wondering what it would be like if we really could distort, change or
manipulate time. He seems to be making progress and has his group participants involved and actively
engaged in the project.......... in the story of course, I hope Jason Tesar decides to or get enough reviews to
continue the series. I'm a big fan and I enjoyed the " AWAKENED SERIES " and " MANIFESTATION ", also......
I enjoyed reading Emit, it makes one wonder if it's possible to distort, change or manipulate time
from a human perspective. He seems to be achieving his goal......in the story of course and seems
to have his selected group of participants involved. I hope Jason Tesar add to the story or turn it
into another series. I'm a fan and I enjoyed the " ,AWAKENED SERIES " and " ,MANIFESTATION "

- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2015I like the authors books. This one was good, just not great. Maybe if it had been a little longer and provided more to the story. Just beginning to get good and it ended. For the next book in the series. Maybe to put set the hook in your mouth so you have to have the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2016It is truly creepy. I'm thinking about it and getting the chills. What if you found a way make every hour count? If you could add more stuff into your day without compromising anything, would you do it? Even if it meant that you were either going insane or somehow responsible for the inevitable? You have to read it to find out! Man is it a trip.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 20, 2015I usually enjoy tesar's work, but this was just too out there. Maybe it was just me, but it made no sense. Did not seem to be written for someone to read. I think this may have been an attempt to write something from his imagination that is unable to be put in writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars a definite must read
As usual Jason keeps you gripped from start to finish. I have to admit Jason Tesar is the only author to date, who I can honestly say I've enjoyed reading all of his books. I wish emit was a novel, didn't want it to end! I have to say though, I was a bit skeptical on whether or not this one would have been my cup of tea, but it's the thought provoking sci-fi I love most. Keep writing jason, I truely envy your gift and love it all the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars You have time to read this,
Great short read. Begs the question though, if we really could see into the future would it prevent us from doing anything at all?
