A Desperate Paradise: An Adam Park Thriller Kindle Edition
A brutal murder. An island drowning in secrets. A detective caught in the crossfire.
Still haunted by the aftermath of a violent case, Adam Park thought he could escape the chaos. But when the murder of Kai Pace, an aid worker on the Greek island of Paramatra, raises questions, Adam is called in to settle a debt — and uncover the truth.
Kai’s parents believe the police investigation is a cover-up. As Adam tries to uncover the truth, digging deeper into the secrets of an island struggling with an influx of refugees, he discovers ruthless smuggling gangs and deep-rooted corruption.
As he unravels the web of crime, Adam is pulled into a deadly conspiracy that stretches from the sun-soaked beaches of Greece to the treacherous sands of northern Africa.
With every step, the violence escalates, testing his limits and threatening his very soul. If he can’t find the truth in time, the killer will go free — and Adam might not make it out alive.
A Desperate Paradise is the second novel in the Adam Park Thriller series. If you crave heart-pounding international crime thrillers with a flawed hero and a violent edge, dive in today.

About the author
A. D. Davies grew up in Leeds, West Yorkshire. In high school his ambition was to be a writer of horror novels, although in adult life he became an avid fan of crime fiction. After a long stint in an unsatisfying job, he attended the University of Leeds where he attained a degree in creative writing. Shortly after graduation, he moved to the Midlands to marry the love of his life.
He is well-travelled, his favourite destinations being New Zealand and Vietnam, which has influenced his writing immensely (as seen in his novel The Dead and the Missing). For now, however, globe-trotting is taking a back-seat to raising his two children and writing, although he hopes to one day combine all three.
He now resides in Staffordshire, UK, with his wife and two children.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2016Another intriguing adventure with lots of today's issues included. Adam Park is someone who cares about righting wrongs but is he in too far this time around? He responds to a request from his good friend, Jess, to find out who murdered a young man working with migrants on a Greek island. He winds up in the midst of a battle for the drug markets where lots of very bad people are fighting for supremacy. Adam arrives on the island and meets up with the police chief who introduces him to the cousin of the man murdered and who then introduces Adam to many of the migrants. These are people running from wars and who want nothing more than to be safe in another country. The story involves Adam in several adventures where anyone else would probably wind up dead but he has his 'friend' Vila Fanuco watching out for him. This is a very good book and one I could not put down. I read it all day today to finish it so I can get on to the next Adam Park Thriller. Yes, I like this guy and the writer is superb.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2019Quite enjoyed the book. I don't see Adam as Jack Reacher as some have compared the two, because Adam is still nascent. Reacher knows who he is; Adam is still searching for that balance between the "goodies and the baddies." Finished the book and immediately purchased the third. Recommend.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2016I enjoyed the first Adam Park thriller, The Dead and the Missing, immensely. A Desperate Paradise, the second book in the series, is, dare I say it, a masterpiece. This saga has Park, a British private investigator, attempting to solve a murder in Greece, and he ends up in northern Africa in a tense situation involving international intrigue. There are many surprises. I don't want to give anything away, but Park encounters a middle aged couple who turn out to be ex assassins for MI-6. You will end up rooting for them as much as for Park. The hero, Adam Park, is unique. You will, like me, end up anxiously awaiting the next Adam Park adventure. A. D. Davies is a truly talented writer.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2017This is my second Adam Park novel. Adam is sort of a cross between Travis McGee and Jack Reacher...He is sort of a PI, has unlimited funds, and he doesn't take any stuff from anyone. The author has scored a hit with these first two Adam Park novels, I hope the rest are as exciting. They both were the kind of book that you just can't put down until you flip over that last page! Terrific pretty much sums it up...
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2016A great suspense mystery that keeps you reading and constantly makes you change your mind at who is behind all the trafficking of drugs in the middle eastern countries. Adam Park gets in too deep when hired to find out who killed a young man. All the twists and turns that Mr Davies adds to his novels is sure to make him one of your favorite authors.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2018I loved the first book and I love the second book too. Very good writing that makes you want more of Adam Park and the rest of the main characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2016I really enjoy A. D. Davies Adam Park series. A great protagonist with suspenseful stories and interesting characters, along with his ongoing friends. Recommend to fans of mystery and suspense.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2016Did not enjoy A Desperate Paradise as much as the first
book, think he's a great writer though and will buy the third installement of the Adam Park series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adam Park at his best.
Another hit by A. D Davies with a non stop thriller with Adam Park proving he gets the job done.
Loved the story, the twists turns and read over two days, just because I didn't want to read in one go but savour the story longer.
Like Davies style of writing, the storyline and the hero of course, Adam Park.
A great book and a great storyline.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't stop reading!
Enjoyed Book 2 as much as the first. Adam Park is a likeable character with a mind and conscience of his own that could go in any direction. Great detail and a few twists in the tale. Can't wait to see what Adam gets up to next. On to Book 3.
