Dare to Fall: a small town second chance contemporary romance (Second Chances in Sapphire Cove) Kindle Edition
Cheyenne Miller has no time for love. She’s too busy working three jobs to pay for her mother’s rehab while dreaming of one day opening her own garage. Besides, she’s seen what love can do to a person. Her mother’s pill addiction is proof.
Zach Thomas is at a crossroads. After losing his parents, the Navy gave him a family. Now his best friend and fellow SEAL is leaving the military—and he wants Zach to join him. Zach can’t imagine continuing as a SEAL without his brother in arms, but he’s just been offered the promotion of a lifetime.
When Zach’s truck breaks down, Cheyenne is the only mechanic who doesn’t deem it a lost cause. The attraction between them is undeniable, but Cheyenne’s father was killed in the line of duty, making her leery of relationships with men in uniform—especially when her mother’s addiction once again rears its ugly head. Can Zach convince Cheyenne he’s worth the risk before his next mission separates them forever?

- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2022I’m much more into adventure romance stories or romcoms. Not usually into these kind of romantic dramas. But there was just something about this book tugged at my heart strings much. I could not put it down. It’s hard to work from home when you’re trying to tear yourself away from a really good book. I cried for the sadness and some scenes, laughed at the humor and cried at the sweetness at all. This was really an emotional roller coaster of a story. But I loved it. Zach and Chey’s connection was really strong and had me routing for them since he first saw her get into her fully restored classic convertible car.
This had some really good advice for families not being enablers to addicts. Lots of heart wrenching moments. This was a very real story. But it leaves you feeling peaceful despite the problems/issues that they still deal with. You have to be in the right mood to read this story but definitely worth it.
Now I can’t wait to find out about Sawyer!
Rating: PG-13, deals with addiction, overdose, death, being orphaned, PTSD. In other words some heavy topics in here but handled well.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2022A sweet small town romance about two people who don’t do relationships. However, that was before they met each other. Zach and Cheyenne realize they enjoy one another’s company. So they decide on a summer fling. But of course a fling always tends to be more. I enjoyed reading about the growth of their relationship. How they both have things to work through and how determined they both are to fix the problems in their personal life. There are some tough topics in this book, that Lindzee handled well when writing this book. But in all, this was a great romance that I recommend.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2022Zack and Sawyer were heading to Sapphire Cove to see if they wanted to quit the seals and move in order to start a business with John who is marrying Meredith, a local woman, when Zack’s truck breaks down, Cheyenne is the only mechanic in town able to fix the truck. Neither wanted a relationship but working on the truck makes it difficult to ignore the chemistry between them. Will they be able to find happiness in spite of the difficulties they encounter?

- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2022I've been a fan of Lindzee Armstrong for a while now. I've read most of her work and have loved them all. Dare to Fall is no exception. Her characters feel real and you connect with them right away - feeling like you are pushing them to make the first move as you turn each page.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 18, 2024I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Cheyenne Miller is an auto mechanic who specializes in restoring vehicles. She is in Sapphire Cove for the summer while her mother is in a nearby drug rehab facility. When Navy Seal Zach Thomas comes to town to visit, his ancient truck breaks down and needs Cheyenne to restore it. While he’s there he helps her, and the chemistry between them is real, but he gets called back to base suddenly and her mother leaves rehab and overdoses, so she breaks up with him. A touching story about family connections, love and making hard choices.
