Product description

UK Metal titans DRAGONFORCE have completed their sixth studio album entitled‚ 'Maximum Overload'.

Produced by Jens Bogren at Fascination Studios in Örebro and Varberg, Sweden, the new opus will be the band’s first ever album involving an outside producer, having historically opted to record themselves in association with Karl Groom.

Maximum Overload will be the band’s debut album for new label earMusic, part of the German Edel music group, who will release the album in the UK on August 18th.

Mainly written by guitarist Sam Totman and bass player Frédéric Leclercq‚ 'Maximum Overload' is the second album with new vocalist Marc Hudson who replaced the bands original singer for the last album, ‘The Power Within’. Formed in 1999 and based in London the band is very well known for its long and fast guitar solos, fantasy-based lyrics and electronic sounds in their music to add to their retro video game-influenced sound.

“Working with Jens gave us a different perspective on the songs and a different sound dynamic. We always previously recorded in our own studios but recording in Sweden made us focus and maybe drove us harder, Jens certainly did, he doesn‘t believe in days off!“ said guitar maestro Herman Li.

“The album title and album cover artwork is inspired by the constant bombardment of information we are subjected to during our daily lives“ Li added. “We were in an airport departure lounge surrounded by TV screens, flight information screens and advertising screens. We then looked around and no one was saying a word, they were all looking at more screens on tablets, laptops and mobile phones, there‘s no escaping it, it‘s complete information overload!“

‘Maximum Overload‘ features a couple of surprises, notably a guest appearance on some of the songs from Trivium’s Matt Heafy. “We‘ve always gotten on really well with the Trivium guys and it was great when Matt had a couple of days to spare and agreed to weigh in on some of the songs!“ added Frederic Leclercq.

The album also features an all time first for DragonForce.....a cover version! Sam Totman explained “Just before the last Australian tour our manager suggested it might be interesting to do a cover for the next album, something we‘ve always refused even to consider. Because we had all had a couple beers every band member wrote down 3 songs each and we compared them all, just for a laugh. I wrote down ‘Ring Of Fire‘ by Johnny Cash, an idea which the rest of the band loved, so we‘ve Dragon-Force-ized it!“ Bonus DVD (25 mins) - Documentary: A New Found Force - Cry Thunder (Live at Loud Park ’12) Plus: Exclusive T-Shirt, 6 pictures and poster.

Love this album. Chemical Overload is a bonus track but is easily my favourite on there. Lyrically there's less fantasy involved as they turned away from that with the introduction of Marc Hudson on the previous album (The Power Within) but they've kept the classic Dragonforce speed and sound. I also love that they decided to do one cover song for the first time (if you're interested look for the video interview where they talk about how they came to this decision) and their take on Ring of Fire is brilliant.

Would highly recommend to anyone interested in their style of music. Or if you're not but you like Eurovision have a listen to You're Not Alone (track 12, bonus track 2), it could easily be our entry one year!

When i started the 1st track of this album up i kinda worried they were going to lose some edge they're really known for, but.....i'm glad to say their awesome streak continues. I'll admit i discovered them in Guitar Hero III (Everyone has to discover music somewhere), and since getting Inhuman Rampage I've bought all the albums on CD because i really like their music and I'm glad this is no exception, even though this is the 2nd album with the new vocalist Marc Hudson, who did a fantastic job with "The Power Within"
My only complaint: I miss the lengthy tracks i loved to sink my teeth into, I loved this previous albums.... IE: Sonic Firestorm's Soldiers of the Wasteland. though this isn't really going to subtract from my rating.
Overall: I Love this album :) continue to kick ass Dragonforce!!

UK Power Metallers Dragonforce return with their latest release their 6th studio album but second with new vocalist Marc Hudson.
The new record Maximum Overload during the listen through I noticed a few things they've tried to experiment with their sound while keeping the traditional Dragonforce sound. Marc's vocals have significantly improved he seems to have found his comfort zone within the band and it comes across with this record. Herman and Sam's guitars still as awesome as ever some really great tracks on this record including 3 featuring guest vocals by Matt Heafy (Trivium).
All in all a great record, great tracks would give a higher rating if possible if your a Dragonforce fan pick this up but also a great record if your a metal fan who's not familiar with the band

I didn't like this album instantly, unlike Inhuman Rampage which I loved from the first beat. However, I decided to play the album through three times before making a judgement. I'm glad I did as I now have it on constantly in the car. Worth making an effort for.

As a huge DragonForce fan, this is one of the most satisfying purchases I have ever made. Maximum Overload is one of DF's best albums to date, and the extra goodies that come with this box set make it all the sweeter. I still have my photos and T-shirt, they're made of durable stuff. But of course the music is what you mainly want. Needless to say, if you're a DF fan, this album will not disappoint.

My album of 2014! Fast duel guitars and good songs!! They have matured as a band but retained the DragonForce style! Their songs are a little shorter and more contemporary but don't fear, it's still DF
Some bands have one fast guitarist...DragonForce have TWO and that is what makes their songs exciting to listen to.
If you are a DragonForce fan you will like this, if not, it is a good place to start. As a band, DragonForce are peaking right now!!

This is the album all Dragonforce fans have been waiting for. It blends all successful elements from the other albums into 15 fantastic tracks. Tomorrows Kings, Three Hammers and Symphony of the Night are the stand out highlights for me. Each of the bonus tracks feels like a genuine album track not just a filler or bit of random music. The value for £20 is brilliant with the t shirt, image cards and poster as well as the limited edition. Highly recommended!

So many good songs on here, Dragonforce have really outdone themselves this time. Marc Hudson seems much more comfortable with his voice in this album and it really shows. Once again, the whole band show off their versatility from the fast paced "Symphony of the night" to the epic anthem "Three Hammers". Very highly recommended
