“The dock just might be the most stable thing on Elpitha Island,” Pierce said. “Try to soak in a little sand and sun while you’re there. That’s the best part of the island.”
Duke’s eyes were immediately drawn to the sprawling oak trees he’d read about, standing sentinel over the forested acreage beyond. Long, thick branches spread like languid arms draped in moss, reaching for…what? One glance told him that there wasn’t much to reach for, save for a building that looked more like a forgotten Mediterranean villa than the welcome center of the small Southern island. The stone and wood building had a deep porch that spanned the entire length of the left side with stone pillars. A wooden trellis laced with the most captivating flowering vines shaded the area. Although the structure itself was in need of repair, it was surrounded by perfectly manicured, ornate gardens, which contrasted sharply with overgrown and unkempt bushes littering the far edges of the property.
“The proximity to the mainland isn’t bad,” Duke said to Pierce. He set his suitcase on the sand and looked back at the Atlantic. “It only took an hour fifteen to get here.” Elpitha was the smallest of the vacation islands off of South Carolina, and more than half of the land had been owned by the Liakos family for centuries. It was just over eight square miles, and not many investors wanted such a small tract of land, or to deal with families that were as entrenched as the Liakos family was thought to be. Some families might sell out, but they would fight tooth and nail against change, which could cause discourse on an island this small. Duke and Pierce weren’t deterred. The restrictive size of the property would only increase the value, making it an exclusive vacation spot for the elite.
“With Hilton Head and the other islands so overrun,” Pierce said, “Elpitha is ripe for development. Although we’ll have to work around that name. Who wants to go to an island called Elpitha? It sounds more like a disease than an island.”
Duke squinted up at the blazing sun and loosened his tie. “I don’t know. I kind of like it.” He noticed a plantation-style home tucked behind the trees in the distance. “They weren’t kidding about the strange mix of Mediterranean and Southern feel of the place. This should be interesting.” Duke knew some of the island’s history, and though he still didn’t understand why Greeks would immigrate to the South and try to re-create their country’s feel, it didn’t much matter. If he and Pierce decided to purchase the land, they would bulldoze every structure and give the island a complete Southern overhaul, making it the most desirable resort area in the South.
“Chuck called earlier and said Liakos’s granddaughter Gabriella is an attorney,” Pierce explained. “He thinks they might bring her in on things. Apparently their family keeps things tight. So if you meet her, play nice.”
The hollow clank of a screen door hitting its frame drew Duke’s attention. A woman stood on the porch of the old building, shading her eyes from the sun as she looked out at the water. Her long dark hair hung halfway down her back. Duke was too far away to see her features, but there was no missing her curvaceous ass and full breasts, not to mention legs that seemed to go on forever beneath her short summery dress. Duke watched with interest as he listened to Pierce relay the most recent information from the attorneys and engineers.
The woman glanced at her watch, then settled her hand on her hip. A voice rang out from inside the building, and the pretty woman hurried back inside.
“I just found proof of life,” he said to Pierce as he stepped onto the sandy path. “I’ll call you once I’ve done some recon.”

- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2016Another great read by Melissa Foster! The book is set on Elpitha Island, a small island owned and inhabited by an extended family of Greeks. Gabriella's grandfather has asked her to come home and meet with the investor looking at purchasing the island to build a resort. Gabriella is a family law attorney in New York City. She has always felt that her family pushed her off the island when that was really where she wanted to be. Duke Ryder is the investor that Gabriella meets at the ferry. Even though she thinks he isn't what the island needs, there is instant attraction. Gabriella is determined to ignore it since she feels its a conflict of interest due to the sale. Duke isn't about to let her go.
Sit back and enjoy the ride! Melissa takes us on a journey with both main characters. Gabriella has to stop looking at the island from the eyes of a child seeing perfection to realize the island & it's culture are dying. There are no prospects for the younger generation unless they move off island. The tourist trade is high but there is nothing to sustain them for the rest of the year. Duke has to realize that there is more to life than business and short term affairs. He needs to realize that he is looking for love. Can Duke negotiate the purchase of the island without alienating Gabriella? Can she reconcile Duke's vision and her love of the island life?
I love the plot line in this book and the added element of the Greek culture. There is such a huge feeling of family & looking out for each other. Melissa's writing does this perfect justice. You are drawn into the story from the first due to the chemistry between the characters & then the give & take between them keeps you involved. The characters are well developed & realistic. The only problem is that the story keeps you enthralled & reading so intently that the next thing you know, the book is finished! And you have a long wait for the next one!!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2016OMG I’m so in love with Duke Ryder! I just knew the eldest Ryder was going to be the hottest! Elpitha, the fictitious island in the book, really sounds like my kind of place and I want to move there. But lets get back to Duke. He wasted no time claiming my heart in this book, as I am sure he will claim yours. I love him and Gabriella together and the chemistry between them is off the charts hot!!! I love how he is so upfront and honest about what he is feeling about everything. That is one of the main characteristics about him that makes him so very sexy! Of course the “sexy times” are absolutely sizzling too. They usually are in Melissa’s books. Gabriella certainly had no chance of resisting Duke. I don’t see how any woman could. Not that they both didn’t try to resist each other at first but I’m certainly glad they gave in to their feelings.
Gabriella is such a strong heroine. She is a loving and caring with very strong family ties and bonds, but also a smart, kick-ass attorney back in NYC at the same time. I love all of these things about her. I also really like that Duke is a bit older than some of our usual heroes because it puts him in a different category to me. He knows exactly what he wants but is not too alpha about it; but is still alpha enough at the right times too. He loves kids and is so good with them. One of the things he does that really gets to me though, is the fact that he learns some sweet Greek just for Gabriella, wow.........just sigh. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to be in a big Greek family and I feel like Melissa captured that well with Gabriella’s big loving meddlesome bunch. That being said, Duke is so good with her family and really cares abut the fate of the island because he knows how much it means to Gabriella and her family. You just have the feeling he is going to do what is right for them all.
I can honestly say that I have yet to read a Melissa Foster book I did not love. Thank you for that Melissa. I never ever miss a new release and reread her books often! They are my go-to reads, always. This hero here though, he’s one of the best by far for me! I could talk about him for days. Duke Love!!!! Keep‘em coming Melissa!!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 27, 2016Claimed by Love is a part of Melissa Foster's Love in Bloom series. It specifically focuses on the Ryders, though it wouldn't be complete without a few Braydens in the mix. Although it can be read as a stand alone, Melissa Foster has worked her magic to intricately weave her characters across several story lines from this series into this fantastic book. A true fan will be delighted to catch up with these characters, while learning more about new ones!
Duke Ryder, a real estate investor has been sent to the exclusive island of Elpithia. Here he finds family ties and roots run deep. The island had long ago been settled by Greeks as well as deep southerners. Now the culture is entwined and heavily influenced by both customs. Duke has his eyes on the prize as an investment, until he meets his tour guide and daughter of the owner, Gabriella.
Gabriella absolutely loves her native island. Her focus is to use her persuasiveness as a lawyer to help Duke loose interest in thr island resort he plans to build. After all, she is a top notch Lawyer from New York City and she has battled with the best of them.
There is chemistry and compassion throughout this book. I completely fell in love with Duke's ability to help those he cares about. His kindness and compassion for making the world a better place, blew me away! I can't wait for more from the Ryders. I loved catching up with past characters as well. Well done Melissa!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another great book by Melissa Foster
Gabriela and Duke are an odd romantic couple, since they are opposites in many ways.
However, their love for family brings them together and their story is one sexy ride.
I believe this is the sexiest book that Melissa Foster has written for this series and this couple is so naughty and at the same time they are sweet and romantic.
Great reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars sexy island romance.
Another fantastic read from Melissa. A book full of surprises where the heroine has a strong lead. Gabriella is in family law and life outside of Liakos Island is not how she imagined it to be. Liakos island is full of magic and love for all families. The only trouble is Liakos Island needs to be saved. What was once a popular tourist island has slowly fallen into despair and needs a wealthy investor to revitalise it. Gabriella comes back to the place that her heart belongs to in order to help her grandfather get a good deal.
Duke Ryder is sent to Liakos Island to assess what needs to be done. As a renown property investor he has some ideas. But what he doesn't realise is just how quick those ideas change due to the fact that he falls in love with Gabriella. His previous ideas on how to shake the island up into a destination that the wealthy would visit soon changes. The more he falls the more determined he is to keep the island as Gabriella wishes. Although Gabriella puts up a fight as she thinks that Dukes ideas are going to ruin the one place that she truly loves.
When Gabriella has to go back to work due to an important settlement Duke decides that he will do everything in his power to ensure Gabriella's happiness and also to ensure that the island is developed into the beautiful place that it was once. Gabriella knows she cant fight her feelings for Duke, she is deeply in love with him.
Going back to the island to her parents anniversary party she notices that there are several visitors already there. When she finds her grandfather with these people she soon finds out that it is Duke and his team. After all Gabriella not only gets her Duke forever but also has the final say in all aspects of the development.
Great to catch up with the rest of the Ryder's too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute hot story
One more cute and sweet story written by phenomenal romance writer Melissa Foster. Gabriella and Duke are sweet and hot in equal measure. When Gabriella has to face the possible selling of her beloved family island, she is not happy at all. When Duke goes to Elpitha, he never thought he would find a hot-blooded Greek woman like Gabriella, who would drive him crazy. Crazy in the good way, of course. What happens when two people who are heavily family-oriented have to face their fears? I won't spoil anything here, so make sure you read this book.
The story is cute and sweet, but it didn't have a lot of action or tension, so it wasn't very gripping for me. But I enjoyed it because Melissa Foster's books are the perfect escape from reality, and I fantasized all the time about escaping to Elpitha and being able to disconnect from routine and my busy life. If you like hot, hunky heroes and strong female characters, this is the book for you, and I double dare you not to fall in love with the Greek atmosphere of the island depicted in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Once again Melissa Foster weaves a wonderful love story around Duke and Gabriella
Once again Melissa Foster weaves a wonderful love story around Duke and Gabriella. Duke is just as hot as the Bradens and the Remmingtons, all alpha males with enormous loving hearts and Gabriella is a beautiful feisty heroine. The island where the story unfolds woven with the greek heritage is beautifully written. Whenever I finish one of Melissa's books I can't wait for the next one in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved, loved, loved it!!!
Loved, loved, loved it!!!
I have read all of Melissa's Love in Bloom books so far and up until today Slope of Love was my favourite. Slope of Love still is however this book now shares the top spot.
I read this book within 3-4 hours, not because it was short (it isn't) but because I could not put it down. When I find a book I love it takes a lot to drag me away from it as I get lost in the book and the characters.
Melissa is an amazing author and I could read her books all day, so much so I am currently re-reading the series.
Melissa has this ability to make you understand the characters and the emotions they are feeling roll off the page.
When I leave reviews I don't give away spoilers but I will say this Duke and Gabriela are perfect for each other from page 1 and the way the book is written makes you see that.
At the very end of the books there is the first chapters for more of her upcoming books, which is teasing but I cannot wait.
I hope you all enjoy this book as much as I did and if you haven't read any of her previous books then I highly recommend you do so.
