This is my favorite album by Bow Wow. I love ALL of the songs but "Bow Wow (That's My Name)" is my favorite song on the album. This album definitely brings back memories. I first heard this album when I was 11 years old and I played it every day non-stop. I STILL remember the lyrics to all of the songs. I also love the music videos for the singles. I heard his other albums, except "New Jack City II". Those albums are okay but I think that this album and his second album, "Doggy Bag", are his best ones.
Track-by-track review:
1. Intro - I know this is just an intro, but it relates to the album title in a way. For instance, since the album is called "Beware of Dog", the dog growling part pretty much tells it all. It also makes it sound like an explicit album.
2. The Future - This song is pretty cool for the first song on the album. It also has a nice beat to it.
3. Bounce With Me - This was the first single from the album. Before I first heard this album, I didn't know that Xscape was singing the chorus. Other than that, this song makes you wanna do exactly what the title says. The video is also great. It reminds me of Snoop Dogg's "What's My Name" video.
4. Puppy Love - As the third single from the album, this is a nice romantic hip hop track. The video is pretty cool. Solange did her thing in that video.
5. You Know Me - A tremendous collaboration with Lil' Bow Wow, J.D. and Da Brat. This song sounds more like a freestyle song. Honestly, I think this should've been released as a single.
6. The Dog in Me - A nice solo track by Lil' Bow Wow.
7. Bow Wow (That's My Name) - Being the second single from the album, this is my favorite track on the album. A wonderful collaboration with Lil' Bow Wow and Snoop Dogg (who gave Lil' Bow Wow his stage name). This song is what made me want to get the album. Almost every day, this song would come on the radio. The video is my favorite video by Lil' Bow Wow. I like the ending where he and Snoop Dogg transform into dogs.
8. This Playboy - This is a nice hip hop version of the nursery rhyme, "This Old Man". Besides Lil' Bow Wow and J.D., I don't know the other guys but they had nice verses.
9. Ghetto Girls - The fourth and final single from the album. This song has a nice beat to it. The video is cool too. It has a appearance by B2K Also, Lil' Bow Wow names some very fine women in this song.
10. You Already Know - This song is pretty cool. It has a nice beat to it.
11. Bounce With Me (Extended LP Mix) - A little longer than the original, but it's nice though.
Overall, this album will forever remain one of the most classic debut albums in my book.
