- Reviewed in the United States on December 7, 2017I had this author on my radar for quite a while now, but I just couldn't pick up her books... don't ask me why, cause there's no logical reason... ;) but recently I asked my trusted online group for recommendations about small town, very low angst, preferably slow burn romances, and this series was one of the very first responses... :) so I figured this is the perfect time to give it a try... :) and I absolutely adored this story :) it's the beginning of a spin-off series, but worry not if you are not familiar with other books by Daisy Prescott, cause it was my very first novel by her, and I enjoyed it immensly without the knowledge about any of her other stories... although fair warning: you absolutely will want to go back and read those other books :) but for now, let's concentrate on the topic of this particular review :) I'm gonna start with our main characters :)
What can I say to you about John and Diane? :) John is this tall, bearded, manly... *sighs dreamily* where was I? sorry, got distracted there for a moment thinking about him :) moving on :) he lives on a small island, and works, or possibly owns, cause I don't remember that particular detail at this moment and I didn't write it down in my notes ;) for a logger company :) he's friends with Maggie, his next door neighbour... side note: she already has a book about her and I am definitely reading that one soon ;) but now that she's somewhere else for a few months, she rented her cabin to Diane :) Diane is finishing up a divorce and looking for a quite place to stand back on her feet... what I adore about them is that they are both in their thirties and actually act like adults... :) you have no idea how infuriating this is for me, when I read about characters who are supposed to be my age or higher, and they act like teenagers... ugh... it's one of my book-ish pet peeves... so every time I find a book like this one, it's like a breath of much needed fresh air, that makes me smile all the time :) what's even better, John and Diane start out as friends... truly, just friends :) he's actually involved with someone else at the beginning... :) and I adored that dynamic... seeing how it changes over the course of time she spends on the island... how they get to know each other better.. *sighs happily* it was a wonderful story :)
This was my first read of a book by Daisy Prescott, but it will definitely not be the last ;) I already have on my kindle the second novel in this series, about Tom, the perpetual flirt, and I am very curious to see him as the main hero :) my sister J already read it and she says it's amazing as well, so my expectations are high :) but back to this story :) it was definitely right up my alley :) a slow burn romance, with adult people who acted like adults, and a phenomenal writing style that made chapters just flew by... :) what's even more interesting is that the whole book is written from John's perspective, which is actually very unusual... or maybe I just haven't read more books like that :) but I very much enjoyed it :) it was definitely unique, and in my opinion done really well :) I loved the relationship between our main couple, the honesty, how they started as friends... I inhaled this book... because of the fantastic writing style, I finished it before I knew what was happening... I just couldn't put it down :) and since recently I was in some sort of reading slump a bit... when I am not really sure what I want to read, but also because I am super busy and stressed out at work, it's hard to unwind at home... but this book definitely helped with that situation :) so if you are looking for a charming romance that will make you smile all the time, and you haven't read this one yet, definitely give this gem a try :) I highly recommend it :)
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2016Earlier this year, I reviewed Anything but Love by Daisy Prescott, which is the third book in the Wingmen series. I enjoyed the book so much that I knew I wanted to go back and read books one and 2. So today I have my review of the first book in the Wingman Series, Ready to Fall. The Wingmen series is a group of interconnected romantic comedies that can each be read as standalones. Ready to Fall made me want a lumberjack, and I didn't think that phrase would ever be coming out of my mouth. But it sure is true. I will take a John day, any day. Daisy Prescott does a fantastic job with romantic comedies. I think her books will be perfect for fans of Penny Reid, and you all know how much I love Penny Reid.
What I loved most about Ready to Fall, is that it is told from John's point of view. Yes, an all male point of view romantic comedy. Why are there not more of these? I felt for John. He is such a great guy. Yes, he is a playboy but he seemed so difference from Erik in book 3, Anything but Love. Erik seemed like more of a manwhore, and john seemed more of a guy that wasn't ready to settle down but had moreso be lied to and wronged in his past. Can you tell how much I love John, by how I am already defending him. He is the kind of guy you picture showing up and saving you/sweeping you off o f your feet. No matter how much he may not think so, John makes a perfect hero. I liked Diane, his love interest, as well, but John just stole the show for me. I loved watching the two of them dance around each other, never quite making a move. It was great to have sweet couple to root for. Once again, I think this book would make a great movie. Maybe someone could take all four of the books in the wingman series, and make like a Love, Actually or Valentine's Day mash up of the stories and we could watch them all play out at once?I also wouldn't mind all of them being turned into their own movies or the guys getting their own show. (Either way, someone make it happen!)
Bottom line: Ready to Fall is a solidly great book. The writing is top notch, the characters are relatable, and likeable. And the story line will have you laughing. I am a new (newly huge) fan of Daisy's. I just love her writing. She writes fantastically delicious tension, and her humor is spot on. And I know this has nothing to do with the story, but I also love that her bio says she lives in a real life Stars Hollow. I want to visit! Check this one out if you like romantic comedies, and books like Penny Reid. (and yes, I said that in my last review too, but it is still true!) If you have never read a Daisy Prescott book, you need to fix that ASAP! Trust me.
*Disclaimer- I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated for my thoughts.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2018Ready to Fall is a pretty decent read. If I have to describe it in one word, I think it would be charming. I love how their relationship started and how it blossomed. I know the setup is a bit cliché but I’m glad that the author really took the time to let the main characters get to know each other (and let us get to know them too) and not just after the first meeting, poooof! they just magically fell in love. Ofcourse love at first sight could be possible, but it’s good to have something new in your romance story once in a while right?
I also didn’t notice any scenes that we’re done in a hurry and reading this book feels like I am listening to a friend of mine telling his love story. And yep, this story was taken from the hero’s POV. I usually love dual POVs but once in a while, I also like to read a story where it was taken solely from the guy’s POV especially if it’s romance, *wink.
As for the conflict, hmmm, not sure what to think about it actually. Both the main characters have their own set of issues and since Diane (female lead) was in the island waiting for the finalization of her messy divorce, I was expecting that she’s the first one to crack. I was expecting her running away from John (male lead) because she’s afraid to fall in love again and get hurt but it’s the other way around. Good thing the drama wasn’t stretched that long and the two of them eventually talked it out and made up. It’s also good that they both able to address their own issues, especially John.
This story consists of romantic, sexy, and funny scenes which I think were perfectly blended together. The writing style was fine but can’t say if it’s one of my favorites. Overall, Ready to Fall is a pretty good read but it just wasn’t able to make me stay awake at night and suffer from a book hangover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parfait pour l'automne, avec un bon thé et un plaid
𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐚𝐥𝐥. 🌲

This is one of those books that will leave you with a warm and fuzzy feeling. The characters are so true to life that you can immediately and truly relate to them. It keeps you guessing right until the end. It is a brilliant book that leaves you with a big sigh and smile on your face. If you need a pick me up, then don't miss out on this. Loved it

Diane & John are the ultimate couple

5.0 out of 5 stars Romance mal anders

5.0 out of 5 stars I absolutely loved it!
I absolutely loved it!! So rare to have the entire book from a male POV and it was awesome. Can't wait to read about "Tom Cat" from his POV.
