Germany's Felix Jaehnis a DJ, producer, and remixer with a bent toward atmospheric yet still pop-oriented house. He emerged during the mid-2010s when tropical house was becoming one of the most popular trends in dance music, and he scored numerous hits with his uplifting songs and remixes, which incorporated elements of deep house, soul, funk, pop, and reggae. Several of his multi-platinum smashes, including his remix of OMI's "Cheerleader" and the Rufus & Chaka Khan cover "Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better)," were included on his 2018 full-length debut, titled I. Continuing to spread positive energy through his music, he released his second album, Breathe, in 2021. His subsequent singles have included collaborations with Ray Dalton ("Call It Love"), Jonas Blue ("Weekends," "Past Life"), and Sophie Ellis-Bextor ("Ready for Your Love").
Born in Hamburg in 1994, Jaehn studied classical violin in his youth before turning his attention to DJing in his teens. Around 2011, he briefly attended London's Point Blank Music College before returning to Hamburg. After reestablishing himself in Hamburg, Jaehn released several well-received singles, including 2014's "Dance with Me" featuring Thalliee Ann Seenyenn and 2014's "Shine" with Freddy Verano and Linying. However, it was his 2015 remix of OMI's "Cheerleader" that grabbed the public's attention. A catchy, reggae-infused dance hit, "Cheerleader" topped dozens of charts across the world. That same year, Jaehn earned yet another worldwide hit with his remix of vocalist Jasmine Thompson's song "Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better)," a cover of Rufus & Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody." Jaehn formed the duo Eff with singer Mark Forster, and their debut single, "Stimme," topped the German singles chart for three weeks.
In 2016, Jaehn issued a handful of notable singles, including "Can't Go Home" with Steve Aoki and Adam Lambert and "Bonfire" with ALMA. He released "Dance with Me" (featuring Thallie Ann Seenyen) and "Hot2Touch" (with Hight and Alex Aiono) the following year. 2018 saw Jaehn put out his debut full-length effort, I, via Polydor. It was preceded by the single "Like a Riddle," featuring Hearts & Colors and Adam Trigger. The next year, he teamed up with English singer/songwriter Calum Scott for the single "Love on Myself," and collaborated with Vize and Miss Li for the song "Close Your Eyes," which reached number 21 in Germany.
Several other Jaehn singles charted in 2020 and 2021, including the Top 40 hits "No Therapy" (featuring Nea and Bryn Christopher), "When the Lights Are Low" (with Toby Romeo and Faulhaber), and "One More Time" (with Robin Schulz featuring Alida). Several of these tracks appeared on Jaehn's second album, Breathe, which arrived in October 2021. "Rain in Ibiza" (with the Stickmen Project and Calum Scott) and "Do It Better" (featuring Zoe Wees), both reached the German charts in 2022, and "Call It Love" was also a hit in several other countries. In 2023, Jaehn released "All for Love" featuring Sandro Cavazza, and collaborated with Jonas Blue on the singles "Weekends" and "Past Life." More stand-alone singles followed in 2024, including "Waking Up" (with Leony) and "Ready for Your Love" (featuring Sophie Ellis-Bextor). ~ Matt Collar & Paul Simpson
London-born singer-songwriter Jasmine Thompson was first noticed at the age of 13 for her YouTube videos of her covers of various songs with her uniquely smoky, eerie voice. After her acoustic cover songs began charting, Thompson started sharing songs of her own, going on to collaborate with artists such as Selena Gomez, Marshmello, Meghan Trainor, Zedd, and others, releasing her songs in the form of EPs like 2019's Colour, and singles like her 2021 track "Already There."
Thompson began sharing videos of cover songs around 2013. After racking up millions of views of her videos of Taylor Swift and Naughty Boy covers, she began receiving regular radio airplay on the BBC as well as gaining an expanding online fan base. Her cover of Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" was used in an advertising campaign for the U.K. supermarket chain Sainsbury's and soon climbed the British charts. In September of 2013 she self-released her debut album, Bundle of Tantrums, and continued to upload new videos. A month later, she followed the album with an EP titled Under the Willow Tree. In addition to releasing her own music, Thompson has collaborated with artists in the dance/EDM community, most notably with German DJ/producer Robin Schulz, who enlisted her to sing on his 2014 track "Sun Goes Down," which became an international dance hit. In 2014 Thompson also self-released her second studio album Another Bundle of Tantrums, which featured covers of well-known songs by Lorde, Miley Cyrus, and also R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts." In early 2015, Thompson announced that she had signed with Atlantic Records and headed to the U.S. to collaborate with pop songsmiths like Jesse Shatkin and Emily Warren. Her first single for Atlantic, "Adore," arrived that spring with the Adore EP released later that year. After its release, Thompson uploaded 15 different single tracks to streaming services between 2015 and 2017, collaborating with the likes of Hugel, Eden Prince, and Felix Jaehn, whose "Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better)" topped the German singles charts for eight weeks. Her sophomore EP, Wonderland, arrived in 2017 and featured songwriting contributions by Meghan Trainor, Ross Golan, Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, and others. The Trainor co-penned single "Old Friends" appeared on Grey's Anatomy and was remixed by Jonas Blue. Returning in early 2019, Thompson issued a handful of singles which then appeared on her Colour EP released in March. In 2020, Thompson co-wrote the song "Kinda Crazy," which Selena Gomez included on her album Rare. That year also saw new singles from Thompson including "Love for the Lonely," and the Zedd collaboration "Funny." In June of 2021 Thompson released a new song, "Already There." ~ Fred Thomas & Timothy Monger
