A veteran of the corporate rat-race, John W. Mefford never realized he was mentally documenting every experience of his professional journey—not until he started his first novel during a so-called "corporate timeout."

A voracious reader of mystery-thrillers since before he could shave, John enjoys weaving a twisty tale that keeps readers riveted until the last page. He's also learned he's pretty good at embellishing. Just don't tell his fourth-grade teacher.

This was a wild and crazy story that will hook you from the beginning. It's certainly not a story that you'll want to miss!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

Alex is with the FBI and a young woman ends up, in an alley, with two bullets in the back of her head. This happens in the aftermath of Alex’s house being blown up plus she continues to work with her friend, Ozzie, on his situation that caused him to move from Texas for safety reasons. Things are not adding up so, while doing her job, she goes off the books with Ozzie’s help. Alex and Ozzie escape death when someone shoots at them. How do all these cases fit together?
The only common thread is JustWin. It is a powerful, vast, cold-blooded organization willing to kill
thousands to make their leadership rich. Another common link seems to be the FDA but could there
be someone on the inside helping JustWin?
Many twists throughout the book. I did have some confusion from time-to-time. What I did not
really like was one chapter it said who was talking, the next chapter someone else was talking, then
you would have the story in the third person. Still a good read that you’ll enjoy.

Just when you think an author can not surprise you in a story......your wrong! John W. Mefford keeps his readers engrossed in his stories due to the fact of his ability to give life to the characters, and have things happen in the stories you would never expect! Alex has her hands full in this story and even calls on her friend, Ozzie for help. Things just are not adding up and Alex goes 'off the books' to try to find answers, but doing so, Alex may have just cost herself her own life! I have every one of these stories, and they just keep getting better and better! Go ahead and check it out for yourself!

Alex and Ozzie are working together again. The cliffhanger from the last book set some predictability into play for this book, but the way all the details and threads came together was pretty ingenious.

The group dynamic is still evolving due to some personnel changes and after this ending there will be more. There was more time spent with the higher ups and how that impacts Alex and how she works. Her family and love life are looking good for once except for Ezzy and her heart.

This was a good story and closed the loose threads on a major storyline from Alex and Ozzies stories. Can’t wait to see what Vegas brings!

“At Any Cost” is part of the long running series “ Redemption Thriller Series.” This is one of the best series out there right now. John W Mefford pulls you into each book until you are a part of it. The latest book is no exception. There are so many twists and turns you won’t be able to put it down. Alex and Ozzie run into more trials and tribulations in “At Any Cost” you think they will never be able to get out of them still in one piece. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I have all the others. I am anxiously awaiting the next one. You really don’t want to miss out on these great stories. Pick it up today.

While this was number 8 in the series even though I hadn't read any of the previous ones I was still able to discern the relationships between the characters. Good read.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! John Mefford is a master at drawing you in from the first page and you won't want to put the book down until it's done. Alex is trying to recover from having her house blown up and continues work with Ozzie (who really wants to be able to safely go back to Texas).

There are a lot of twists that I really did not expect, but, then, I should not expect anything less from Mr. Mefford.

If you haven't read any of the Redemption series, you can read any of the books as a stand alone, but starting at the beginning is the best way to read them.

Good story potential, bit it seemed very disjointed. .. like connecting scenes were skipped over. Frame work was in evidence, fleshing out was missing.

When you start a John Mefford book you know you are going to sucked right from the beginning and won't stop until you reach the last page.

AT any cost follows Alex & Ozzie from the aftermath of the explosive ending in the previous book, and the ending which left me going "oh my God!"

The noose is getting tighter on the JustWin associates and the tangled web that it has created infiltrating the FDA and various other organisations, see Alex having to fight for her life once again - I honestly don't know much she can take but I know one thing she is one strong bad-as woman to go through everything she has.

The story will have you on the edge of you seat once again from start to finish

Good plot, tied up nicely, though left an opening for future novels. Too many characters at times confusing. Still well worth the read, at times I couldn't put it down.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hard to understand why it is written this way
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 15, 2022
This is the first book I have read in this series so I don't know how the previous stories were written, but although I am half way through, I want to stop reading. Written in first person, but from two different people's perspectives, the chapter headings are the main way to tell who the protagonist is. This is really sloppy and I can't see what this style of writing lends to the plot or the story. Why not just write in 3rd person and at least you would then be able to introduce more suspense and drama. Half way in and all I'm getting is a lot of chatter with nothing really moving forward and no sign it ever will. This style of writing won't make me want to buy another in the series, or perhaps even by this author.
