    Actual 4.5 Star Review

A Perfect Passion from The Passion Series by Piper Kay!

True passion and loyalty has been smacking Damien in the face for a very long time. What he finds as passionate such as betrayal and danger could cost him his life. Dax the hot pool boy is apparently straight and this beautiful guy comes with a lot of baggage and I mean a lot! These guys have to soon realize that taking a risk can be so rewarding; spiritually and emotionally!

Damien and Dax characters were so well written that I so enjoyed reading them! The author's details about these men is so hot and steamy, I was panting through each page and wanting more and more. Damien's ex-boyfriend, Aaron is not the nicest guy and comes back into his life to create some major havoc. Will Damien find true love? Will Aaron cause too much damage?

How this brilliant author writes about the incredibly hot sex scenes was well written and yet there was a great story to accompany the steamy scenes. Here knowledge of the gay man's lifestyle was so dead on that it really impressed me. Her occasional use of the sexual term "GOOCH" had me thinking that Piper Kay really knows her stuff and she researches her topics well. I highly recommend this hot, steamy, love, lust and betrayal book...A Perfect passion!

"Complimentary copy provided by author/publisher for an honest review."

Gay for you is by far my favorite category in male/male. I loved that Piper goes right into the bang of the story in the first few pages and then followed by a filling plot. I read it all within twenty-four hours - granted its 150 or so pages - but it was still a riveting read. You got two sexy, muscular, alphas, one gay, one is straight but the other MC is so damn manly and sexy...the other MC is willing to give it a go...and boy does he give it a GO! What really does it for me is the emotion in these characters...I loved it. They were so strong but also tender and wanting to love and be loved. Only thing that drove me crazy and had my jaw dropping was the ending. I am avid about 'no spoilers' in reviews so I'll simply say 'you got to read it yourself.'

This story is a wild ride from start to finish. And WHAT a finish it is!! The story that unfolds when Damian catches his live-in boyfriend cheating on him in their house in their bed is very good, so very hot and all kinds of psychotic. I could not put this book down and could not believe the ending. And these are awesome things!! I've read Ms. Kay before and found her writing style and would usage is very strange, but having previous familiarity with her, it didn't seem so odd this time around. I thoroughly enjoyed this and am looking forward to the next installment. I like that she completed the main story with the MCs, but has an underling story that I, assume, will be resolved in future books. Awesome!!

From the bio information at the back , it seems that this book was published by a reputable publisher. I would have sworn it was self-published because the editing was inexcusably poor, or possibly entirely lacking.

I see the five-star reviews and wonder whether we've all read the same book. Or perhaps grotesque typos, strange sentence construction, improper use of prepositions, and a plethora of other Junior High School-level errors don't bother other readers as they do me. And it's a shame, because, for a while there, I was really getting into the story and the characters.

And the ending... well I won't spoil it, but it's really unbelievable. And I mean that literally.

One aside, if I may: so many women who write M/M fiction seem to have a fetish that I have rarely seen among the hundreds of gay men I've known over five decades. It seems that lady authors writing men have a compulsion to make at least one of them terribly tall, as though tall were the sexiest attribute a man could possess. The last book I read, one MC was 6' 3". This author outdoes the previous one with an MC of 6'7". I mean, this guy has to duck to walk into a room and he doesn't even play basketball. I'm truly afraid that the next gay romance I read will have an MC of 8'9" or 9'7"? What is with all this "tall stuff"?

Getting back to my review, all I know is that I got bogged down on page 67, on which each paragraph had its own head-scratcher and I almost abandoned the book right then and there. But I forced myself to read on. I'm almost sorry I did.

Try some of these on for size:

"I needed to talk too you" ("to" and "too" were used incorrectly in many places)

"I vibrate my tongue in circles around his recky." (his "recky"? His reconnaissance? I suspect this is a made up word for "rectum", you know, like something a ten-year-old might substitute for a dirty word?

She also has a nasty habit of adding unnecessary prepositions:
"As, Dax massages into my arm..." (note the extra comma, too).
"Dax knows his way around in a kitchen (not "around a kitchen"?)

Or try this true classic of incomprehensible prose:
"I circled my tongue around the top of his dipped lips on his mouth." (What the heck does THAT mean?).

I don't mean to be hypercritical, but this was definitely one of those cases where there were so many instances of pure illiteracy that it prevented me from enjoying this book - which I was prepared to do.

Honestly, I get insulted when an author or publisher doesn't have enough respect for his or her book or the reader to actually finish a product before selling it to unsuspecting customers. I paid money for this. I wouldn't have, had I known that I was buying a rough draft.

Fabulous book, what else is there to say? Lots!
Piper Kay, your characters are awesome. I love that instead of making Damien crumble when the pieces fall, he stands strong with a take no s*** attitude and moves on. No listening to empty promises and lies that lead to more mistrust and heartache. I also love Dax who has been stand in Damien's face all long and although he has issues to deal with, thankfully he is open mind enough to explore what feels right and promises to be something extraordinary! Throw in a little turmoil and jealousy and this book has it all!!!
    Bravo!

I really enjoyed this book. It had me hooked from the first page. I loved how the book showed that betrayal is the same whether you are m/f or m/m - it hurts. I liked the senstive side shown by both main characters. Can't wait to see what happens in book 2, which was set up nicely at the end of this book.

a short story, telling of Damien and Dax. Damien is a gay guy, and Dax, straight. it tells a tale of Damien' s pursuit of Dax, their relationship and a nutty ex with an axe to grind!

Not a bad tale, couple of things let it down for me. It's written in first person, present tense. Not a favourite of mine. I'm also not entirely convinced by the way Dax reacts the first time Damien touches him. And, some editing and spell check wouldn't go amiss. "You drug me out of there?" DRAGGED the word is dragged! ~keep seeing this a lot!~

one more thing . . . it flips between Damien and Dax, but there is no warning or indication as such. a bit Annoying, to be honest.

for a freebie, and an hour, twas okay.
