Harsh.
Avery Chamberlin is special, unique. Beautiful words to gloss over the fact that
she is different. She has never felt like she fit in. Why should she?
She was reminded on a daily basis that she was not like her peers.
Flawed. Damaged. A freak.
Avery will have to come out of her shell to prove that even the bullies
have their own insecurities.

I read this book in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down. This book had me go through a range of emotions, sad, happy, suspicious, shocked, and a few others.
As a mom, Scarred makes me want to hug my kids and shelter them from any kind of harm or harassment. This is a great perspective from the person being bullied. We get to see what is going through her head and why after years of torture she acts like she does.
I really enjoyed this story even though at times I felt as if my heart were breaking for Avery, the main character. It would be great to pretend that this is a work of pure fiction but unfortunately; there are kids like Avery everywhere being bullied on a daily basis. It would be great if those doing the bullying would read this and realize what they are doing to others when they say/do mean things.
This book was short but packed in a lot of story. It was very well written and the main characters were well defined. This author writes a few different genres and does them all very well! I highly recommend this book and any other by this author – you will not be disappointed.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 18 October 2015Wonderful! Awesome! Inspiring! What an amazing book! I nearly inhaled it and read it in one go, I just couldn't resist and couldn't put it down. The reading is so easy, you get drawn in the whole story right from the beginning. And you have to love the characters, all of them, okay, one you'll like more some less. The writing is smooth and in a way it gets right under your Skin and directly into your heart. This is a brave, inspiring and touching story, you just have to love it! Oh, and be prepared to have some tissues on hand, you'll need them. But it's oh so good!!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 February 2016I have a soft spot for books about bullying because they're much more complex than they seem on the surface - if they're done well. A bully isn't a bully just because they're mean. That's too simple. No, there's usually something else going on.
That's the case in Avery's situation. She has been bullied her whole life - mostly by the same girl and that girl's friends. Through a series of events, Avery learns one of life's greatest lessons - everyone has something they are ashamed of, some problem they can't overcome. She just happens to be the lucky one to have people that will stick by her side no matter what. Not everyone does.
This is a special book. It's not long, but the story sticks with you long after you've read it. Avery was born different than everyone else, but instead of letting that damage her beyond repair, she has become a better person because of it. She's definitely someone you can root for.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 August 2017just so childish and rushed character development with pointless misunderstanding and drama didnt like the writing style and just big let down.

This is a fairly short standalone.
Avery is different from everyone else and because of this she gets continually bullied at school and has never really fit in. She has her one rock, her best friend Dylan and he is different too, together they are strong for each other. When Dylan is injured at school and Blake starts texting her everything starts to change.
A beautiful romance and very well written short story. This is the 3rd book I have read by Elizabeth Montgomery and I love her style of writing. I was captivated right from the very first few pages and taken straight into Avery's cruel world. I felt that I connected with Avery, Dylan and Blake well.
This book should be widespread amongst schools to help show the severity of bullying and it also reveals that the bullies often have problems and issues of their own to deal with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Scarred is a story of hope.
Scarred is a story of hope. Regardless of the circumstance, there is always hope.
Avery has been bullied most of her life. She doesn't trust anyone. Since Harper Clarke made it her mission to destroy Avery, life was mostly miserable. She doesn't trust anyone. When Harper's ex-boyfriend, Blake, begins talking to her, she is positive there's a catch. Could a member of the popular crowd possibly want to be her friend? Will Harper find a way to mess this up too?

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this story as it tells the story of a ...
Everyone has scars, some are just not seen. I love this story as it tells the story of a girl with visible scars and the trials she had to go through. She thought she was ugly because of the scars on her face, but the one boy that she always had a crush on saw beyond them to the beautiful person she was inside. Never take things on face value, what is inside is what counts the most.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story
I thought this was a great story, I think it's nice to have booms out there that are about bullying and how people deal with the struggles of it and eventually overcome it. I loved the characters in this book. You really start to feel for them and feel the impact of their story. I can't wait to read more about them and wish this book would have been longer.

5.0 out of 5 stars A heart wrenching story
Honestly what a fantastic story! The realization of what this dear sweet soul had to endure was heartbreaking yet bittersweet. You will understand what I mean when you read it.
Ms. Montgomery your words and gift of writing is a blessing.
Thank you for taking the time to write about a real problem that plagues our society today.
