Editorial Reviews
Review
"Even though this is the fourth story in the series, I think it can be read alone. There are short and sweet references to characters from past books with enough thumbnail info for their place in this story but it's not done all at once or overwhelming. I like the reality that not all the characters get along grand with each other. But Wiggly Poo is still fantastic.." -- Jayne at Dear Author
From the Author
Each story in the series features a different couple's love story, but they are all set in the same small Irish town with a recurring cast of secondary and tertiary characters. While my Ballybeg is fictional, its geography is based on the towns of Cobh, Kinsale, and Clonakilty in County Cork. All the other places I send my characters in this book and the other books in the series are real--Cork City, Doolin, the Burren, Lisdoonvarna, Blarney, Galway, Dublin, and so on.Ireland and the Irish are steeped in a unique history and culture and I usethese aspects to flavor my stories.
After writing quite an angsty story in Love and Leprechauns, Love and Mistletoe was simply good fun. Sharon's character intrigued me from her first appearance in Love and Shenanigans. I loved her interaction with Brian and I wanted to tell their story. A fun holiday novella was the perfect fit. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!

- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2016My first Ballybeg book - but definitely not my last. I am reading book one seconds after finishing book four. .No worries, Love and Mistletoe stands alone. However, I want more of these quirky characters. The book is also funny. Spoiler alert - there is a happily ever after. Romance, comedy, interesting characters and a small Irish town - a total delight.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2014I liked it too. A cute romance. The local police officer has a crush on the town drunk's daughter. She is a bit on the wild side but her reputation is a bit more than she is. She also has a crush on him but he is the law and she is on the other side with her crazy family so she sees nothing coming of her infatuation.
But events happen and they are thrown together. They take advantage of the situation and sparks fly. In more ways than one!!! I thought it was a cute story and I really enjoyed it. The characters are likable and believable. She was a bit crazy for me but I can see where she would definitely appeal to him. Good read and I definitely recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 21, 2015This is the first story I read in the Ballybeg series, and as such I was totally unfamiliar with the town and any characters in the book. Nevertheless, i found this to be an enjoyable story. My lack of knowledge did not hinder my reading enjoyment at all. Brian is a cop in Ballybeg, and Sharon is a member of one of the town's most notorious (crime-laden) families. And they've got the hots for each other. That's all you need to know to enjoy this. Things moved along between them at a rather quick pace, but then, it's a short book. They did seem like a rather unlikely couple, but I've seen a lot of stranger couplings in real life. A fun Christmas read, if you like dirty romance ;)
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2014What a great Christmas novella about Sharon MacCarthy and Brian Glenn. This seemed like an unlikely match since Sharon had a reputation for being a trouble maker and Brian was the local constabulary. You will just have to read this story to find out if/how it works for them. The writing was fantastic making life in a small Irish village very appealing. This Christmas story was a humorous, quick read that I really enjoyed.
The descriptions of the characters made it easy to picture them. They really made the story, in my opinion. Sharon was so funny - actually her entire family was hilarious. Brian was Sharon's complete opposite being much more reserved.
As a whole this was a quick, happy, enjoyable read that I recommend.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2016This book was short, but great fun to read. The characters are easy to read about, the humour is there, the mandatory dog is there and cute, as is the abusive father and - with the exception of one - the feckless brothers.
I enjoyed this novel and have the next in the series on my wish list.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2014I haven't read the other books in the series, and probably would have made reading this one a more richer experience. I didn't have all the back ground on the character's since this is book 4, but didn't feel lost. It is a novella, the author pulls you in quickly with the way the character's are written. There is sex, somewhat descriptive, but not vulgar. There isn't a cliffhanger, and the author includes an epilogue 3 years in the future. I am not going into the premise of the story, as it has been explained. Only one reference to Christmas, so not a traditional Christmas story. (ljb)
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2016Just as in real life love prevails even when the couple come from totally opposite backgrounds, especially when they are both willing to make adjustments and compromises! I loved the story and characters, it was very interesting and entertaining! Thanks for your great stories! I'm anxiously moving on to book 5, I can't wait for the next entertaining story and characters!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet romance.
Really enjoyed reading this book. A simple sweet story featuring a cop and the village bad girl. I found myself laughing whilst reading this story, there are so many quirky characters in this series. This book has a more light hearted feel than book 3. Which I feel is more suited to this author.
