About the author
Jessica E. Subject is a USA Today bestselling author of science fiction and paranormal romances, bringing to life a wide variety of characters. In her stories, you could not only meet a sexy alien or a pop star tiger shifter, but also unsuspecting clones and feisty omegas. You may be transported to a dystopian world where rebels are fighting to live and love, or to an alternate reality where shifters live among humans.
When Jessica is not reading, writing, or doing dreaded housework, she likes to go to fitness class, listen to BTS, and walk her Labrador Retriever/Border Collie her family adopted from the local animal shelter.
Jessica lives in Ontario, Canada with her husband and two not-so-little children. And she loves to hear from her readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining Read Without Much Depth
Verified PurchaseThose looking for a quick and satisfying holiday read will get just that with Ms. Subject's latest release. In a storyline that's been done before Ms. Subject gives us two lost and lonely souls who come together right before the holidays in a steamy yet heartwarming read.
After since Claire lost her entire family to an arsonist's fire she's just been going through the motions, scared to get close to anyone for fear of losing them. She hasn't even dated but misses the closeness of even a one-night stand. Her glimpse of a sexy Santa is the first time in a long time she's even been drawn to someone else and on a bet goes after him. She notices his slight greenish hue but the immediate sparks between them has her forging ahead wholeheartedly into an after dinner dessert at his home where everything she once took for granted gets turned upside down. Once she knows the truth about Alex will she keep his secret or will fear of him and his affect on her heart have her turning him away? Claire is a likable character who's let the past control her future and it's heartwarming seeing her finally happy and thinking of the future.
Andy has been trapped on Earth for five years in constant fear that he'll be discovered and dissected for being an alien. It's kept him separate from others as he doesn't want to slip up and reveal his secret. Something about Claire calls to him and for the first time he's willing to reveal the truth about himself to keep her. I found Andy endearing and could understand his fears as early sci-fi shows, which is what he basis his beliefs on, did resort to dissection. It's a constant struggle for him to appear human and this unease was always apparent in his flashes of awkwardness.
Andy wasn't an obvious alien beyond his slight discoloration which he covered with make-up. Very little is known about his background, his home planet, or the reason he's on earth. With this part glossed over, the sci-fi element is greatly diminished which will disappoint fans of the genre. The romance is satisfying though with their electric connection. Their sexual interlude is steamy and encourages candid talk and further shows why they're a good match. From start to finish this was an entertaining story though not allowing for much depth. It gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling with its romantic and emotional message of two lonely people uniting over the loneliest time of the year. Its likable characters brought a smile to my face and it's another winner for Ms. Subject.

3.0 out of 5 stars A fun read
Verified PurchaseMs. Subject writes futuristic romance with a particular blend of flavor. Sweet, emotion-laden people, usually suffering the pangs of loneliness, with the hot, hot, hot combustion of really great spark. In "Hey Santa," all of these elements are there again in a Christmas-themed short story about an alien stranded on Earth who meets his gal.
This book is a definite recommendation for anyone who enjoys a futuristic romance, or wants a little heat for the holidays. Well done!

4.0 out of 5 stars A short and sexy romance featuring an alien who is stuck on Earth.
Verified PurchaseClaire doesn't want to spend the holidays alone, so her best friend pushes her to ask the sexy mall Santa out for dinner. Andreas is doing the best to get by on this planet without being discovered as an alien, made difficult by his natural green skin, but he can't deny his attraction to the woman who asks him out for dinner. Their need for companionship pulls them together as neither wants to be alone anymore. Andy entrusts his secret to Claire and hopes he hasn't made a mistake.
Although this was an extremely quick read, the characters were well-written, rounded and likeable. Claire's swift acceptance of Andy's origins might've seemed contrived in any other story, but Ms. Subject made the event believable and convincing. Both characters were uncertain and afraid, but willing to risk it all for a chance to be together. This was a delightful story to read and perfect for a single sitting.
I also enjoyed the bonus story at the end, Alien Kisses at Midnight. It is a quick glimpse into the beginning of a beautiful relationship between a woman and an alien banished to Earth for doing the right thing. Dena and Haul captured my attention from the very moment she ran into him with her car. A very entertaining story!
